This place was cold. Which was quite surprising to the little fox. The room he had just left was hot and humid, and yet the only traces of that heat was the damp floor under his paws. Ahead of him the ground had started to freeze and a white powder substance covered the ground. Snow A voice in his head told him. It was snow, something cold. Like water, from water, but also not water. It made him wonder how it was possible for something so cold to be close to something so warm. Perhaps that was just the way this world works.
The fox shrugged off the thought and plodded forward. When his paws touch the snow and ice, it sent chills up his legs and across his spine. It was a welcomed feeling. As he grew, his fur began to get thick and the heat of Fornax was doing him no favors. Humphrey inhaled quickly and was shocked to see that a sort of fog escaped his maw. The young fox gave a started hop. He forced air out from his lungs again and was just as surprised to find that it happened again. Humphrey continued the cycle until he realized that he was quite winded.
When he turned around, he could tell that he had gone down a hill. The snow had gotten deeper now, just about up to the middle of his foreleg. This could make things a little difficult, but the fox was dead set on exploring. So, he pushed on. He had remained in Fornax for his whole life until now. From what he heard, the cave was a big place. Who knows what he would find.
Just as Humphrey had started to push onward, a yelp stopped him in his tracks.
What the? The yelp was familiar...
Max? He started turn around, just in time to see his golden friend come tumbling down the same hill he had just hopped down. The dog passed by in a golden blur, barking a cheery hello before slamming into a pile of snow. The young fox, having grown serious in his short life, scowled. But he simply could not hold it, his best friend was such a goof. A bark of laughter escaped him and he sprinted a short ways to where Max lay sprawled on his back.
"Max!" He barked happily,
"Are you stuck?" Humphrey stuck his pink nose close to Max and gave an inquisitive sniff before give the dog a quick lick on the cheek in greeting. His friend was very silly, but Humphrey had a soft spot for his antics. That and Max made a seeing eye dog, even if he did get distracted by
everything.
"I was on my way to explore the rest of the cave!" He stated proudly, though feeling a little bad he hadn't thought to ask Max to come along in the first place.
"You should come with me, I bet we can find a lot of cool things." He bobbed his head once to get the point across, looking hopefully at his goofy companion.
@max
The young fox was more than pleased my Max's reaction. He wasn't sure what else the little golden pup would have said. How can resist a good adventure! With a chance of finding hidden treasure there would be no doubt that this would be fun. The albino fox had no idea how long it would take for them to explore the entirety of their home, but all they had was time anyways.
"Good! I bet there are things hidden in all this snow!" His now fluffy tail flicked around like a flag, thrilled by the idea.
"Especially where the snow is deeper, don't you think?"
As he finished his sentence, he started to plod forward. To his pink eyes, everything really was just a blur of white and gray.
How am I going to find anything? Humphrey glanced over his shoulder at Max, surely his best friend could help him too! As he turned back around he spotted something not too far ahead. It's rich red color seemed stood out clearly in even the foxes blurry vision.
"Max, look!" He bounded ahead excitedly, diving into the deeper snow.
"What is it? He shoved his pink nose into the red thing and sniffed. It was soft. He clawed at it a little, but his paws were quite small.
"Can you dig it out?" He turned to the other pup.
@Max
You can decide what it is, red... and fabric is all I've got haha.
Humphrey had to leap out of the way as Max began to dig. Piles of snow were getting flung all over the place and the fox would avoid getting hit in the face with it if he could. He laughed at his friend.
"Go Max go!" He cheered. After he praised Max, it seemed that the little pup got a little too enthusiastic and toppled head over tail. Humphrey shook his head with smile. Even with his poor sight, the scene was quite funny.
"Well, you uncovered it for the most part!" The albino fox trotted forward and stuck his pink nose in the snow. He moved his head side to side until he could grab the thing in his mouth. He clenched his teeth around the soft thing and yanked hard. It budged only a little, but it was enough to pull it from the dense layer of snow just below the surface.
Humphrey stumbled backwards with the thing in his mouth. After he set it down, he observed it closely. He couldn't see the details, but it seemed to have the general shape of a bear. It was floppy and kind of heavy as if it was filled with sand. It seemed like something Max would like. Humphrey had no use for a small, squishy, bear thing.
"Max! Come look at this thing!" He nosed the toy,
"You can have it!"
@max

Zola was just waking up, it was time to come out of hiding and meet her new friends. She open her eyes for a moment and looked around, then back to quickly peck the prison which held her trapped. A moment later, she was out. Zola looked around for a moment when this strange feeling came over her. This feeling... it was indescribable but she felt it. She looked around until she saw another creature, this feeling, whatever it was led her over there. Then she saw another creature. Slowly she waddled closer.
“Hellos. Zola felt this feeling, so strange and Zola was led here by feeling. Zola wonders, who are yous? Zola called Zola.”
Her greeting was strange non the less, she spoke in first person about herself which made her even more strange. Her four leaf clover gem shined on her chest softly.
@Humphrey
@Max
"I think we should call it a..." He furrowed his brow for a moment.
"A fake bear! Because it looks like a bear, but it is clearly not a bear! I'm glad you like it! Maybe we can call it Max's Bear instead." Humphrey trotted closer to give it a little sniff.
"Or maybe you could just give it your own name!"
The fox sat on his rump.
"I guess it would be cool to find something! Maybe we can find something that will hold all the shiny things I find!" Oh Humphrey did love to find shiny things.
I could carry all the shiny things I find and-
A short, gray thing approached. Humphrey squinted, his blurry vision could barely make any sense of it. It wobbled back and forth when it walked.
"Max do you see this?" And then, it spoke! Humphrey blinked, slightly surprised.
"Zola? Uh, I'm Humphrey. Why do you talk like that?"
