Orion was a beautiful place; the quartz crystals above shimmering with light while crystals sprout from the ground, broken and crumbling stone structures dotted around.

Quite fitting that the newest Gembound would begin to awaken and join this world in such a calm looking place.

The Chrysalis was pretty easy to spot on the loamy ground, the cycles of its creation being shown by mint coloration and streaks of white gracing its form like the quartz on the walls. It soon became easy to spot in the dusk with its jerking quick movements, cracks appearing on the once smooth surface as the creature inside struggled to get free.

All at once, the gem shattered, letting a pine marten tumble out of the broken shards of what once was his prison. He slowly but carefully picked himself up and looked around the odd place he had appeared in with a odd cocktail of fear and awe on his face, magenta eyes lighting up.

After meeting Lust, King Envy had set out searching for the two remaining members of their kingdom; Wrath and Reseda... or, as she now called herself, Greed. The weasel hadn't seen Wrath for long, and couldn't quite pin down her scent... so they knew that she'd be harder to find. But at least she couldn't have gone too far; they were certain that the snake was blind.

Reseda-er- Greed, on the other hand, Envy had smelled. She had at the very least, come with them in the beginning, and followed the great procession to Orion.

Tt was this search which had drawn them to the edge of Orion, where the semi-organized rubble faded gradually into a more natural cave setting, with the city looming as an ominous backdrop. The earth was softer beneath the weasel's paws, less dusty. Though Pride's 'news' also bred caution in the king weasel's movements. There could be anything lurking at the edge of the kingdom, anything waiting to strike down the King and claim their kingdom.

The more they thought about it, Envy found themselves reaching instinctively for their magic. A warm feeling tingled from the gem at the back of their tongue and throughout their body and to the very tips of their paws. The weasel's body flushed a stony grey, although of course, it didn't hide the golden crown atop their head.

Then they continued on, though it wasn't long before their ears perked to the sound of a crack- something that caused them to halt abruptly in their tracks, raising their head to listen. After a moment's pause, they followed the sound in an excited skip. Another new face for their kingdom, perhaps? Envy soon came upon the remains of the shattered chrysalis- and furthermore, the newborn it belonged to. The king grinned- they weren't a big Gembound! in fact, the little one was almost like them! Just about the same size.

They announced their presence by shedding the grey from their fur and letting the bright green hue retake its place. "Greetings, small one! You've entered the Kingdom of the Sinful Seven!" they shrilled grandly, sitting up and waving their tiny arms dramatically. "Lead, of course, by the glorious King, Envy! (That's me!) Welcome, welcome!"

The marten looked a bit startled at the sudden appearance of the bright green weasel - no, King Envy of the Sinful Seven as they called themself - and appeared to relax a bit when they started speaking. "Oh...um...thanks for the welcome! He spoke, a soft tone that felt foreign on his tongue, yet natural to say.

"Um...if I may ask - what does the Sinful Seven do? He was kinda curious, especially if the group was being led by a king and this kingdom was where he appeared in.

King Envy grinned as the youngster spoke, and politely- with due respect, too! The weasel liked them already. "As a King, it's my duty to make sure anyone within my cave feels welcome," they declared proudly, and with a gesture with their paws to their chest. The marten's next question, though- had them stumped. They let down their spines slightly, opening their mouth to respond some seconds before they actually replied.

What did they... do...? Well, they didn't really do much. Except, of course, for training and bowing to their king. But they were new!

Um... Envy breathed in sharply in a moment of panic, blinking their catlike eyes. And then as though in a moment of epiphany, their speech came back to them. "We train! We work to become strong! But most importantly, we overcome! We are the sinful seven! We all have our flaws... But we make them into our strengths!"

Envy trilled in excitement. They were a grand kingdom, indeed!

The marten chuckled when Envy responded that a king was supposed to make their cave welcome to anyone who's in it, feeling a wave of approval (for some odd reason) when the weasel gestured to their chest.

And then he blurted out his question, right when the king was about to speak.

And suddenly, the marten felt really bad for blurting out his question to King Envy, especially when they were quiet for a moment. When they finally got their words back, his eyes seemed to light up.

'We train! We work to become strong! But most importantly, we overcome!'

'...!'

'We are the sinful seven! We all have our flaws... But we make them into our strengths!'

'Wow...that's AMAZING!' The marten thought, his eyes seeming to light up in excitement.

When Envy trilled in excitement from their kingdom, the marten did a excited cheer, his body seeming to barely shine with light. He'd let out a soft laugh and state "Wow, that sounds really cool! I wish I could join the sinful seven, they seem really really cool!"

Envy continued to grin as they saw the shift of expressions across the young one's face. Their attention was drawn to the youngster's body, too, as they began to glow. Envy momentarily felt a flicker of jealousy, but they reminded themselves that they could do light magic, too! And theirs was better. Perhaps they should learn how to glow too, though? after all, they did want to learn all the magic the cave had to offer.

The young one's words sent a thrill of excitement shooting down their spine, rippling through their quills. The young one wanted to join them! They smirked wryly at his question. "Anyone can join the Sinful Seven! They just need to ask the king..." They twitched their quills, flicked their tail, and lowered their head so that they could tap their golden crown with a paw.

Then they grinned at the young one again, an expectant glint in their eye.

The marten was quiet for a moment, thinking about the words Envy had just said...

'Anyone can join the Sinful Seven! They just need to ask the king...'

Anyone?...like, anyone anyone? Even him?

Would they even accept him if he did join? What would they do?

His heart quickly made a decision before his mind could catch up.

"In that case, if it is no bother with you, King..." He nervously asked, bowing politely, magenta eyes glimmering with a bit of expectation and a bit of worry; "May I join the Sinful Seven, if that is all right with you?"

When they straightened up, Envy’s toothy grin was beaming. They didn’t hesitate for even a moment in welcoming their new subject to the party. Puffing themselves up high, they stood tall in the face of the young one’s bow with their quills upright. ”Of course, of course! Welcome to my kingdom, er...” They paused, realizing abruptly that in all of their excitement and amid all the grandeur, the young marten had never given them his name. ”...Have you chosen a name?”

The weasel felt a momentary flood of awkwardness, and scratched their chest with their claws. But they soon shook it off. Envy couldn’t wait to show Sirius to their throne, and introduce their newest recruit to the other Seven- to boast that their kingdom was ever growing. He was the first that was almost the same as them! Almost. Although not quite. And so polite! So eager to bow! Yes, he’d make a fine addition to the Kingdom of the Sinful Seven.

The marten was quiet. He...hadn't really thought of a name for himself, now had he? Maybe he could think of one now! Still staying quiet, he looked up at the sky, then at his chest; lost in thought. He then got an idea. The name was dumb, yes...but it seemed to fit where he hatched. The room seemed to sparkle like stars, and he did wish to be as bright as them. So it seemed only fitting that when he rose from the bow, the marten stated, politely:

"Could you please call me Sirius, King Envy?"

Envy had no idea where the young of the cave were getting all these fancy names from, but they were starting to get pretty sick of it. Regardless, Envy felt their quills tremble with excitement. "Sirius? Yes, yes! Welcome to the Kingdom of the Sinful Seven, Sirius! I bet you'll love it here." Envy grinned and thrashed their heavy tail. They were sure the young one would fit right in. They were some distance from the throne, and the centre of the group, here. Perhaps it would be best if they took the youngster back to the throne so that they could meet the others.

Envy felt giddy with excitement at the thought of showing the others the newest addition to their ranks. They were sure that Pride would be excited at the growth in numbers, and the others, well... it would surely set in stone them that Envy was the best choice for a king. The sooner they got back, and safely into the crowds, the better. "Would you like me to show you the place we call home?"
