ORIGIN

OOC Note: This takes place after the events of Storm Warning.

She found herself awake, floating in the water, breathing beginning with an instinctive thought. Air filled her lungs, and the levity of eternal sleep began to melt away into lucidity. She blinked once, twice, floating in the water with a certain stillness.

The dolphin began, slowly, to perceive sensation--the warmth of the water around her, the quiet drip-drip-drip of water droplets dripping from the ceiling, the rocks surrounding her--and the hunger, oh, the hunger! Her mouth watered and her stomach rumbled.

She took a deep breath, diving beneath the water. Her eyes flicked from side to side, looking for the telltale ripples of prey; the only thing on her mind, at the moment.

There did not seem to be much, at first, in the water. Endless ripples of color and waves, their cool depths washing over her flanks--and then a flash of color, at last.

Something dark and dull and spotted, a glimpse of an eye, and then--suddenly--the small wrap of pointed tentacles brushing over and latching on. The sharp bite of a tiny beak.

It was a little octopus, or a squid perhaps--small, but how could she dislodge it? And why was it attacking her to begin with--surely she was too large to be prey..? Or was she? Would it consume her alive, from one side to the other, stuck to her while she could not get it off?
