ORIGIN

In response, Tal'at nuzzled his round, awkwardly bulbous head into the owl's feathers. Yes, he would certainly ask to see more... Another time. When he had more to see. More things for the owl to find in his past... Though he was curious about Giggle, he wasn't sure that Dark could control what he saw and he didn't want to make a fuss.

The blind bat considered the owlet's question, gently clicking his tongue. Well... He was friends with Giggle, was he not? And they had very little in common, at least physically. Where as with the blind owl, Tal'at was practically a brother in blindness.

"Yes you are. We are friends. Share in blindness. Understand each other." He smiled, gently pulling away from the owl finally, backing up on to the sea of green that he could feel-see, brilliant green that he could sense in every direction.

"Go find more. Find more things.... Things to see. Memories for you. Will be good. Fun to see... in the future," he suggested his thoughts, wondering if the owl wanted to wander off with him but unsure how to ask. So in place of asking, he just waited for whatever answer he would get, his wings touching the soft, spongy surface bellow them with curiosity.

Oh, a motherbird. Tal'at had one of those too, though he was more like a fatherbird or at least brotherbird. The thought made him feel like his belly was flipflopping. Perhaps he should return to RaikZik. He was probably quite worried, wasn't he? Right... Maybe Tal'at would be able to bring his bird guardian to meet Dark's, and perhaps they could become... All friends. Or something.

He did not like leaving his new friend, especially with how sad he sounded, but he knew a way to make the leaving not be so sad. "Will stay safe. Return real soon. You can come-- come with me-- when you're bigger. When you fly. I bring RaikZik. He is fatherbird. My bird friend. You'll like him. He'll like you. It'll be good."

Change and leaving was good, it meant warm returns and growth. He would return when he could see more, and maybe one day he would learn to show the owl what he saw: the current, not like the past or the future and not like how others saw the current around them. It would be a lovely present, showing his present, to the owl.

"Will return soon. I promise you. Show you everything," he chattered politely, spreading his wings. He felt truly upset leaving this one. Dark understood him, even more than Giggle had, or RaikZik. The noise of his leather skin was lost in the roar of the cavern, and even as he took to the sky he could barely hear himself. The waterfall drowned out the world and left him in static, which was good for pushing away his thoughts and focusing on what he could of the noisy, hard to sense world. It was a bit frightening, all things considered, but the air was thick and easy to fly on. He swept away from the water-noises and towards where the green dipped low, perhaps into a tunnel of some sort, before disappearing entirely. He wanted to stay with the green, but on the bright side, he knew that he would be able to find Eridanus fairly easy now, and perhaps he would find his "fatherbird" there once more.

Dark listened as his new friend spoke, and hisschirped quietly afterward, thoughtful. He wanted to say that he would like to meet this fatherbird; that he regretted being unable to accompany Tal'at. He wanted to tell Tal'at again to come back soon--even though the bat had just said that he would--and he wanted to ask where the bat was going. But his mind was yet simple, and thoughts fled frantically as the bat turned to leave. All that Dark managed was a quiet, squeaking--

"Don't be hurt."

Then he listened as the bat took off, the rustle of his leathery wings barely audible and even then only for a brief instant, the waterfall's roar overpowering it. He couldn't even tell which direction bat-friend had gone.

But he had Bevy to return to, and he had learned, and even better, he'd given someone a gift. The memory of his gift to Tal'at filled him with sudden joy, and had anyone else been watching, they would have seen the blind fledgling hopping and leaping--wings flapping cheerfully--away from the waterfall, and back toward "home."
