NOTES

Again Pride made something from the gems that lay on the floor of the large cave. He spoke of how sometimes things failed. How odd that must be to try something and not have it work.

Nisha found no interest in any of the magic that Pride spoke of until he mentioned fire. Fire sounded the most magical of all. She could only imagine what fire was, or what it looked like.

Focus. Hmmm. Nisha closed her eyes and pulled her head between her shoulders. She let out a little hum as she reached down with in her and felt for her "magic". Giving out a little squeak Nisha felt something hot rise from her chest. Smoke began to billow slightly from her and the smell of burnt feathers lingered.

Light headed Nisha stopped and took deep breaths. She would have to try that again later... but maybe only when she really wanted to.. The smell was horrible and she felt almost too warm for comfort. Sighing Nisha rode quietly as Pride continued to take them to their destination.

Pride tilted his head a little, glancing up and back in some surprise. The raven was--smoking..?

"Ahh, there it is," he encouraged, warmly. "...Smoke magic? --Or no, fire, judging by the-... smell," he added delicately. The bird seemed to be in little pain, but he thought a warning would not go amiss, nonetheless.

"Use caution with that one; you might wish to practice near water, at first. Fire can backfire and burn you, quite badly."

He'd little experience with fire, himself, but he had seen and heard a great deal. He had blinded himself temporarily, once, with white fire set too close to his own face--it had been a cycle or more before his vision had finally returned to normal, and even now it was foggy at times in very bright light.

But others, he knew, had been far less lucky.

He didn't speak further, though, as he paced his way from Polaris and into the tunnels; Orion, after all, was waiting.
