ORIGIN

Reign had Magic within himself.

He knew that - had known that since he was a Gemling. But he had never made much use of it, excepting when he had fought that beast. And now he knew that he needed to know how to use his magic, in case they decided to come back.

So that was how he found himself back in Polaris - the safest place he could think of to practice his Magic. Not in Orion, no. He didn't dare risk harming his Family - for that was what the Sins were to him. Family.

Standing still in a clearing, he felt for his Magic. His stomach roiled, and he retched, and then suddenly there was an explosion of electricity in front of his face, and he knew nothing.

Thoughts look like this.

Reign moaned.

Oh, his head was killing him. His muzzle was numb, even his sensitive nose feeling nothing when his tongue darted out to lick it. He furrowed his brow, barely noticing as sparks danced along his pelt.

Slowly, the King Cheetah opened his eyes, still filmy and out of focus. Oh, he had been struck hard by that spell.

Slowly, feeling as though his legs were disjointed and not really part of him, the Cheetah gathered them beneath him, staggering to his feet. He wavered, stumbling from paw to paw, his head drooping. His ears were buzzing as though he had stuck his head in a bee nest, and he wanted to go back to sleep. But he had come here for a reason...

...just, what was it?

His stomach roiled, and he retched, attempting to force up whatever was upsetting it. But it refused to come up, leaving him with a churning stomach.

The Cheetah grumbled, shaking his head even as he licked his lips, drooling. His stomach hurt, churning and tossing uncomfortably. He still felt scrambled, not entirely sure what he had come out here for. Lowering his head, he pawed at his ears, nicking his leg on his crown of gems, blood staining the gold stone red.

Taking a stiff-legged step, his stomach roiled and he reached, a mouthful of bile splattering to the ground, sparking weakly.

He dug his claws into the ground, shaking his head again, even as blood drizzled down his leg from where the sharp point of his crown had torn his flesh. The Cheetah wanted to curl up somewhere, find somewhere dark to shove his head until the ringing went away.

So he braced himself, and shook himself again, attempting to dispel the fogginess that had hold of his mind. But all that succeeded in doing was releasing magic, resulting in a loud thunderclap that startled him, sending him leaping into the air.

Landing, the cheetah groaned, reaching up to paw at his throbbing head. He began to walk, stiffly, shaking himself as he did so, static dancing along his fur. Reign grumbled, licking his lips and lashing his tail as he stumbled his way to the nearest dark place he could find. His fur stood on end, making him look not unlike the fuzzy little beast he had been as a cub, as static jumped from strand to strand.

The cat's eyes landed on a rock, sticking out from the ground. It looked to stick out enough that he could lie under it, and have his eyes protected from the light while he napped.

Unfortunately, as he approached, he saw a family of windhoppers crouched beneath it. Flashing his teeth, he glared at them, but they were fast asleep, dead to the world. Without thinking, he tapped into his Magic, a dull thunderclap echoing through the room. The windhoppers, startled awake, bolted out from under the outcropping in various directions. He huffed, and crouched down to crawl under it, curling into a ball and beginning to doze.
