Lust fell silent, paralyzed like the stone on her cheek at the words that came out of Envy’s mouth. For a moment the bird couldn’t respond or barely think while trying to process that the mammal did indeed say what they said. Envy had flung back at them that terrible misunderstanding, that mistake, with no remorse to their own actions.
Lust’s brain began to suddenly spin while their heart pounded in their chest. Feathers puffed as they began to shake where they stood. For a moment it was a shake of despair… but the despair was quickly changed into outright rage towards the other.
“How dare they! How dare Envy come here, telling me about their baby! About how wonderful Pride is! And then mention about how he hurt was hurt! If he had just listened to me, none of this would have happened! It was all his fault!” The poisonous thoughts dug deeper and deeper into their brain while eyes narrowed piercingly at the weasel.
Then a bit of calm seemed to overcome the bird. Lust shifted, straightening out the creamy and brown feathers back into place. It was almost as though Envy had said nothing at all. It was almost as though Lust was going to ignore everything, pretend it didn’t happen. Perhaps they would have tried such a method before….
But it was too late for that. Too many strikes against the bird was made by this-this arrogant creature before them. Lust stopped her pruning and turned to face Envy again. “Yes, well, I’m so very glad you have him then. I’m sure the two of you will do just fine together.” Left unspoken clung the snipping of the thread that bonded the two together. In Lust’s mind, Envy was but a causality to them. It hurt, but nothing they couldn’t move on from. And move on they would.
“I wish you two the best of luck then,” she said with faked well-intention.
"Speech looks like this."
Thoughts look like this.
