Squick felt the host's paw sweep it off its feet, and its eyes widened. It let out a startled squelch and felt itself being moved at great speed, but before it could be catapulted far away, it flailed all of its limbs and tried to cling onto Jaysong's pawpad.

It missed.

The tiny worm let out a long and startled piping sound, like air escaping from a balloon as it was released, and sent sailing away from the arena, little legs flailing wildly and body squirming midair until it finally came tumbling, bouncing, and rolling to a halt. The tiny worm lay there, shivering, yet amazed, its small, wrinkled face turning to look for the host which was only a dull shadow of heat in the far distance and mouth faintly opening.

When I think.

For a moment, Jay just sort of watched the tiny parasite careen through the air in a neat arch, and land on the ground. She squinted, staring, and discovered it was still moving.

.. good.

... Jay wasn't done yet.

The burly kitten went barrelling out of the arena and back to where Squick had landed. She leaned back, putting her weight into her haunches, and then sprang. Which, for spectators, might be an odd sight. Considering how burly and un-agile Jay appears to be, that is.

As she went arcing through the air she made an attempt to land with her white paws-- CAREFULLY --pinning the little worm down where it had landed, her white tail-tip lashing in the air.

Suddenly the worm's vision was filled, and it felt the sides of its body pinned down by enormous paws. It let out a soft squeal of protest and thrashed, before pausing, flexing tiny, soft looking mandibles and then twisting towards one of the cat's soft paws.

It opened its mouth, wide as it would go, then tried to bite onto one of her toes-- which would most likely feel like being nipped by the small, hard gums of a teething gemling, more than anything. The parasite had no teeth to speak of and in the way of weapons, it had nothing. But it tried to bite anyway.

What the fuck, Jay wondered as she felt a strange grinding under her toes. Was that what Squick felt like? Fuck, dude, fucking gross, man.

Jay half-lifted her paws off Squick, for a moment it might seem like she were about to let it go-- but she did not. Instead, she went in to try and swat the little parasite all the way back into the wrestling arena where it'd came from.

The little creature got a mouthful of fur, but it didn't seem like its efforts were having much of an effect on the far larger cat. A moment later, Squick let out a final, startled squeak as it was once again sent tumbling into the battle arena, where it somersaulted to a rolling stop and lay, dizzily, sides heaving and head spinning. It didn't think that it could do much more, but little did Squick know, the battle was already over.

It let out tiny gasping breaths as it came back to its senses, brows crinkling with upset. Finally, after some time had passed, the worm staggered to its feet and looked around, fearful that Jaysong was going to attack it again.

When I think.

Vladis watched quietly to the wrestling match. It almost appeared to the crowd as though he were taking the matter seriously. His one good red eye darted from one to the other in squinted concentration.

The imagery was soon lost, however, as the tanuki leaned back a bit and barked low and coarsely. “Well gem critters, looks like the kitten was havin’ a good ol’ time battin’ the lil’ bug around. I’m sure some mommas in the crowd of ‘er learnin’ ta hunt and stuff. Nice warm-up for the real events.”

The echoing grey shot Vladis a look of annoyance. Ratty had little luck with children, remembering the time she had met a young rat pup who got spooked, but had a strong maternal instinct nonetheless for them. No thought words were even necessary for Vladis to realize his mistake. He gave an awkward smile, clearing his throat, and turned away from the much smaller creature.

“Ah mean, ahhh, well done by the kit an’ bug-go! An’ excitin’ match!”

Jaysong shook herself out quietly, taking Vladis' commentary as a signal that the match was over as the broad kitten went plodding back into the ring to glance down at Squick's general direction.

"Uh, good fight," she mewed half-heartedly, though she couldn't help but feel like whoever signed her up to this was almost making fun of her for giving her a tiny opponent.

Maybe it didn't matter all that much?

She'd won, anyway, so--

With a shrug, the kitten turned and hobbled out to wait for her next match.
