Gea needed firewood.

Eridanus had plenty of dry trees.

So, naturally, she went to Eridanus. There were many other Caves with trees, but they tended to be swampy, such as Cetus, or just plain damp. So she chose the one where she could easily find dead wood without having to pry it off.

And she was right--she had barely entered Eridanus before she spotted a heap of dead twigs on the ground. Swooping down, she grabbed them in her talons, before whirling back to take them home--she wasn't strong enough, or big enough, to haul anything else.

The Falcon returned from Monoceros, twigs safely stashed away. There, that was a good start! But she would need a lot of firewood, and a good-sized stash to keep the furnace going while she crafted.

If only Eridanus was closer to Monoceros--at least she would strengthen her wings flying such a distance so often. That was good! Although she would never admit it, her dream was to be able to soar clear through the tornado in the center of Monoceros.

She twitched, adjusting her wings just enough to weave around a tree, eyes stuck to the ground. A pair of puma lived permanently in the cave, she knew, but from what she had heard they were not the sort to hunt Greater Gembound. So she had no concerns, no reason to be listening out. It came naturally to her to dodge the trees, so all her attention remained on the ground, seeking out the twigs and branches that were hidden by foliage.

But--there! A talonfull of branches. She swooped down, grabbing it as she would a cavemouse, and whirled back around, racing back towards Monoceros without bring stride. Gea wanted to hurry, and make her way back, so she could try and find some larger, more useful, firewood.

Gea panted, wings beginning to ache as she soared back into Eridanus. That was a huge flight, and she didn't intend on making it more than she had to after this. Eridanus was pretty, but this was a bit much.

As she began to seek out firewood again, she began to ponder. Would it be possible to grow trees in Monoceros? So she could have her own source of firewood? That would be incredible if she could! It would so useful!

Swooping, Gea whirled around another tree, eyes scanning the ground. The foliage was incredible thick, except for some places where she deer and other Lessers had made trails. The Greaters that inhabited didn't seem to frequent this area, much, at least from what she could tell.

It didn't take long for her to spot another clump of branches sprawled on the ground, and she grabbed it as she would a cavemouse, flapping her wings to shoot back into the air. Her talons were full, and so she turned to return to Monoceros.

The twigs deposited, Gea returned to Eridanus.

She almost had enough firewood to get a good fire going, but she wanted some nice, large chunks of wood before she truly got to work. So, for now, she would bring twigs back until she found that wood she was looking for.

Her wings ached a good deal, but she pushed on. Surely her wings would be much stronger by the time this was over, capable of carrying her greater distances without hurting? Maybe she would be able to wear some of her own crafts, eventually?
