There was a grim sort of satisfaction as she struck the bear, feeling his flesh and muscle beneath her own. It made her grin, little more than a flash of teeth, even as she bounced off, paws meeting the ground again.
Before she could react, move to strike out at him again or dart out of the way, his paw was lashing out, slamming into her. She grunted from the force of the strike, tumbling along the ground. The she-wolf scrambled to her paws, fairly unco-ordinatedly in her rush, and drew herself up, tucking her head low, rolling her shoulders up, bracing herself for whatever he would do next.
