Kalama barrels through the skeletal remains of the bone fortress, upturning fragments and chunks alike in search of skulls or the odd bone with a stone embedded. She quickly grows annoyed. Things were definitely not going according to plan. That was atleast the eighth bone she'd inspected, and it didnt even have a speck of jewel. She growls and kicks it aside with her foot, moving on to the next thing.

Kalama hops on top of a pile of bones, using her new vantage point to scan for gems. She lucks out this time, spotting something glinting beneath the socket of a skull. She half hops half slides down the side of the pile, and uses her strength to overturn the skull, proudly producing a stone. She concentrates on the stone, until she can feel the buzz of magic within. She lets out one of her a rare peeps of happiness. Equal parts relieved and excited, she tucks the stone beneath a wing and moves on to upturn the next unlucky creature's remains. Things were beginning to look up.

Kalama spots a particularly fragile looking bone tower, and is overcome with the desire to topple it. She charges at the brittle bones that make up the base, and they crack satisfyingly. She sits back and watches the thing topple, feeling pride at her strength. She glances around to make sure no one is around to witness, drops her gem, and jumps into the newly born pile of bones. She tosses them and flaps, rolling around with childish glee. It's the most fun she'd had in a while, though her mind eventually wanders to the idea of someone seeing her act in such a way. It sours her mood, and she climbs from the pile, shaking off the chalky bone dust and fragments. Her toe catches on something harder than old bone, and she briefly glances down, noticing a dark glint, then does a double take. There's a gem there. She blinks, then picks it up, not willing to question her luck.

Kalama has a bounce in her step as she continues her search for gems, her souring mood quickly upturned by the dive in the bones and her luck. She pauses to preen, pausing when her beak finds a large stone settled into her back. She blinks. Kalama focuses on the stone, and shakes her head as a powerful buzz of magic assaults her senses. She doesnt question it, as she didnt question the second stone, and tucks it under her wing with the first two. It's a bit uncomfortable to carry all three of them, but she does her best to ignore her discomfort. Just one more, and she'd turn back.

Kalama ducks underneath an archway of bone, eyes scanning for any more gemstones. She adjusts her wing against her side, the hard stones a constant irritation, and tries to focus on something else. She kicks a small skull, perhaphs something belonging to a rodent, and watches how it skips and then smashes against a boulder. She makes a game out of it, tossing random bits and bones against the boulder until they crack. Mindless destruction was the best form of entertainment. She stops her game when one of the bones smashes into the boulder, and something that is undeniably a gemstone peeks from the slivers. She scrambles up to the boulder and plucks the half shattered bone from the growing pile, tucking it under her wing with the rest of the mini-irritants. That was enough, she hoped. She hesitates as she turns back, a foot lifted. Perhaphs she should try once more. The thought of finding less gems than anyone else fills her with bitterness. She'd find more gemstones.

Kalama's luck doesnt hold out, and the next stone she pulls is a small cracked thing, with dying sputters of magic. She growls and drops it, jumping on it until the sparks die out, the fact that the gemstone once was a living creature not even at the back of her mind. She'd stayed back for that weak thing? She was done. She kicks the stone away. There was nothing left of value here for her. She puffs her feathers, and sits, letting out an irritated noise. She drops her newfound collection of stones, gazing at them curiously.

The Fledgling (+1) stone that Kalama finds is a rough, relatively dull-colored orange/reddish/brown chunk of Carnelian. It almost looks like a small hunk of dried meat. It once belonged to a strange creature that, at first, is relatively gecko-shaped, with rounded toes, though there's a few... differences. First, it's about the size of a deer; second, and perhaps more strikingly, it is entirely covered with purple feathers. Its face is billed, elegant, like a duck or a swan, though its eyes are again quite reptilian, almost monitor-lizard like. A pair of medium-length horns twist back from its feathered head.

The first of the Pupil (+2)-level gemstones that Kalama has found is a polished, rich blue Lapis Lazuli gemstone once belonging to a black crow.

The second of the Pupil (+2) gemstones is a glinting, deep blue Sapphire, its facets catching the lights in a dazzling display. It once belonged to a creature that, at first glance, looked much like an eagle of some kind, though its frame was nearly horse-sized, and its weight a couple hundred pounds. Its face was almost cow-like, its diet herbivorous, its eyes rounded and almost reptilian. Its single pair of legs was hooved, and a strange, feathered frill could rise around its neck. Thin spines ran down its back.

The third of the Pupil (+2) stones is a rough, translucent, yellow-green Peridot once belonging to a small, mouse-like, furless creature with dark pink skin and a snake-like head. Two tiny horns twist back from the back of the head, and the tail is long and thin, halfway between a mouse's and a snake's.

The Master (+3) level stone is a delicate, pale-pink, shining Star Rose Quartz with a lighter, white-pink "star" of sorts at its center, its "arms" spreading over the stone in thin, brilliant lines.

@Kalama
Kalama picks up her bounty of stones, and at the last minute turns back for the cracked carnelian stone. Perhaphs teacher could find a use for the stone. She tucks the Sapphire and Carnelian under her left wing, and the other pupil stones under the other. The star rose quartz she reserves for her beak, holding it proudly. She feels more uncomfortable like this, which grates, but she's managed to get them all.

Settled, she trots towards the area the others had been in.
