ORIGIN

If anyone thought that any of Canis's residents wouldn't hear the frantic calls and pleas of a newborn being attacked by another newborn, they were --- to be frank --- a dumbass.

Eythan had just been casually munching on his own sort of food, a half-eaten rat from yesterday that was the size of his entire forearm. It was a big bastard, and had about clawed his eyes out when he caught it by the side. Of course, it was just food, and not really a trophy. The gryphon didn't really get the appeal behind keeping trophies. It was much more reasonable to just leave the carcasses by some rocks (y'know, where the stinky Lessers's warrens seemed to be) and wait for them to come out and nibble on it. They weren't very picky.

Neither was this child(?) that likely stood as tall as himself, already. Keen eyes glanced down at the thing as it was bucked off of an ungulate of sorts --- no antlers, not a deer, at least --- that was crying out for it to stop. After a quick scan of the situation, Eythan figured that the dark one was the one that had instigated this, given it kept scrambling for the poor takin with a rabid sort of eagerness.

Without much sound, he swooped low, toes spread out and intending to take Azrael from behind, effectively pushing him down onto his stomach and holding him there by the shoulders. All the while, Eythan barked a brisk, "hey!" Eyes narrowed as he made impact, spreading his weight so that most of it was exerted on the demon. "Stop it," he growled harshly, ears back, pushing a little with his front half to reduce flailing.

Realizing that the other neonate might read him as another predator, his gaze softened for a moment, and he called out in a placating gesture, "are you okay, kiddo? Those wounds don't look good." A toss of his head, toward one of Canis's cleaner pools of water. "You should go and wash them out, alright?"

The idiot child underneath him had the gall to give a pathetic shriek and flail around in an actual temper tantrum. Eythan barely batted an eye, scowling and pointedly lying down, putting his full weight down on the damn thing. Digging an elbow into the space between its wings, keeping it down, the gryphon reached forwards and, sliding his foot across Azrael's cheek, he expertly snatched its mouth closed. "Shut up," he growled, not entirely in the mood to try and have a conversation with this poor hatchling while this actual monstrosity screamed incessantly. "If you're going to make noise, it better be words to explain yourself."

Anyways.

The gryphon put on a much more pleasant face, watching as the takin plodded over to the indicated pool, sullying it with blood and spoke. He couldn't help but laugh, a bitter and sharp bark, "kid, this thing wasn't trying to play rough. It was trying to hunt you, and I'm not sure if it's a stupid Lesser or not --- like the rats, y'know?" If it didn't make any indication of actually having a brain in the next few moments, Eythan didn't think he'd have very many qualms against just kickballing the thing into the Chambers and having himself a little meal. Anyways, this kid didn't know where he was, which was fair, he supposed. "This cave's called Canis and it's, as you can see, full of bones. Other caves are a lot better than this, honestly, but apparently I have to eat bones to live. Prime pickings," you could practically hear the scoff in his voice. "There's some pretty nice caves elsewhere, full of grass and stuff. You look like you eat grass."
