Mevoh was busy ripping apart a lesser gembound poisonous snake, eating it with nobility and poise. She enjoyed eating snakes, especially the poisonous ones. For some reason, poisonous snakes tasted better on her tongue than anything else. Secretary birds were one of the few creatures that could kill poisonous snakes with their physical prowess. Larger predators could easily get killed or severely poisoned facing off against quick venomous snakes. The din't have the speed or needed strength to take one down. Well, that was their business. That weakness did not apply to her. She ate the pieces whole as she ripped it up. As she ate, she wondered if she would be ale to unlock her magic anytime soon.
@Serek
Serek wasn't one to travel far from his home- especially after the scare of Raheerah, but. Nothing had come of it, not so far, and he wanted to check the other places. Eridanus had burnt before, had it not? Lifting his head in the air, Serek took a deep breath of actual fresh air for once. Ah- that was better.
Perhaps he should return more often. Nose twitching, he stepped closer to a particularly sweet plant before biting into it. It was undeniably juicy, and the taste exploded in his mouth.
Movement started his prey instincts, head swiveling to the side where another being was. It- Ah, a bird? His ears tilted this way and that as he watched her eat for a moment, idly chewing on what he had in his mouth.
Swallowing, Serek stepped forward on paws and hooves with an interested look sparking in his eyes. He didn't recognize the toxicity of the prey, instead he looked over the bird and took her for a younger being. "Did you take that down yourself?" His voice was rumbling, that of a predator's, yet it held intrigue under the words. Snakes were usually tricky targets, easily slipping away when Serek tried to hunt for them, but perhaps this being could use their claws where the hybrid had fumbling digits.
@Mevoh
Mevoh stopped eating noticing a gembound spoke to her. She rolled her eyes as she took a look at where the voice came from. She eyed him up and down, noting what he was. She then spoke with a cold tone, pausing her meal as she spoke.
"Well, I assume you must be part spotted hyena, part antelope. Hmmm, so much strength, but lacking grace. What a pity. All hyenas do is chase down everything with their messy jaws. And antelopes run at the first sign of danger. Neither have the ability to catch venomous snakes. What a sad pity. Yes, I did catch this by myself. I did not expect to come across a creature with such... odd unclassy features." With that she finished her snake. She turned to look at the hybrid head on.
"We Secretary Birds are masters at killing venomous snakes. I was made to take down such things." To make her point, a small lesser cave mouse scurried near her. In an instant, she landed her claws on it, killing it, while holding it in place.
"You on the other hand, are a mix of a mangy messy mutt, and a grass eating prancy ungulate. So yes, I did take it down myself. Any other questions, sir?" Yes, all creatures had strengths and weaknesses. But despite that, this bird intended to stay above them all.
@Serek
Serek immediately didn't like this bird. The way she moved exuded so much disrespect that set an unpleasant look in response on his face. It seemed talking to her set her on a tirade, and- what's an antelope?
He could catch venomous snakes. He could that fine and well with some knowledge on traps, or sneaking up on them and keeping his paw to its head. He wasn't an idiot lesser like she thought he apparently was.
He scoffed at her final question. "I don't have time to deal with this," he growled loud and clear, turning back to leave from the way he came.
So what if he was unclassy? He was practical. And besides, birds had a fair amount of weaknesses themselves to deal with; so what if he was, what'd she say- a mutt and an ungulate? They combined to make him, and he was pretty proud of himself for what he could do. What would happen when she ran out of snakes to catch then, hm? She was as susceptible to anyone else out here; and here, beauty meant nothing when you're trying to survive.
The hybrid's ears dialed back to listen for any protests or comments, but he wasn't going to stop for them. If some random wanted to pick a fight, he wasn't in the mood.
;exit unless stopped
@Mevoh
Mevoh watched as the hybrid walked off. Good. That just proved he was as weak as she thought. Now she would have her peace. With the hybrid gone, she flew off in the opposite direction. Maybe she could find more food while in the air. She only respected those she deemed worthy. If you weren't worthy of her respect, you were not worth her time.
