OASIS

Warmth. Safely. Constant. These were the feelings the young gembound felt as he stayed curled up in a little ball. The chrysalis walls around him didn't show any sign of budging just yet. Lapis Lazuli shell would be glossy and radiant from the outside, almost like it had been smoothed by the flow of a river but there was no river. No, but there was rocks and pillars near by. The area around the soon-to-be-hatching was an abundance of quartz. Lining the walls and detailed around the pillars that stood tall touching the high ceiling above. Inside, the young one hugged him tail close to his chest. The gem spines at the end lighting brushed against his cheek.

He must have stayed still like that for who could say another hour. Almost as if he wasn't sure if he really wanted out. Unknown wonders awaited him outside this shell. Wonders. Unknown wonders. The very idea actually stirred a feeling inside. There was a tug in his heart, itching to know what just there was outside. Leaning back, he pulled his legs back before shoving them forward in hopes they would guide him into the world outside.

With a loud crack when those oversized feet made contact with the Lapis shell, light beamed right inside. So bright! Brilliant baby blues blinked quickly, adjusting to the intense new sensation. Out of the blue chrysalis came a little grey joey. A little kangaroo. His tail much longer then his body already but he had room to grow. Once his eyes become more adjusted to the light of the room, he paused and stood there (wobbly) in pure awe. " . . . so . . pretty . . ." Taking in all he could see that surrounded him.
