ORIGIN - Wake Up! [hatching]

She was a cat. A cat from Orion, the star room. Huh. That was fascinating. Her thirst for knowledge satisfied, she purred some - like a cub with it's mother - and moved to rub against the gembound before her. Don't ask her why she did this, something internal said this was how she showed her appreciation.

"Caht ferm Ohrye-and." She said. 'Cat from Orion.' A simple statement, but she was proud. She looked away from Vivilene, content with her attempt at rubbing against her. Her eyes wandered, as she could see much clearer now.

She wanted to know what the other creatures were, where they were. Her mind focused on that, the desire to know. Before she knew it, her ears were pounding with the heartbeats of all the living things in the immediate area.

She could hear Vivilene's heartbeat, and the heartbeat of some other creatures nearby. Her eyes widened as the sound was far too much, sensory overload! Her mouth opened, and she began to scream.

"speaking!"

There was a faint blossom of panic that rose in Vivilene's chest at the sudden touch, cold and tingling and uncomfortable. She flinched away a bit, uneasy, though she started to quietly concentrate on casting again with an idle, sober sigh.

"Orion. Oar-eye-on," she started to correctly. "You are a cat from Orion."

She was still a little unsettled from the sudden touch; starting to push herself up to her hooves again to shake herself out. Reset her brain-- don't get anxious, she told herself, repeatedly.

But, alas-- the cat was screaming.

It was as abrupt as the touch had been, but far worse. Vivilene screamed too, alarmed, rearing back and then getting some distance with a clatter of hooves on the cave floor. Why was she doing that? What happened? Was the monster from the bone-room back?

Her head swivelled alarmedly, and then she paced in a clicking circle, her breathing shallow and trembly. "Why are you screaming?" She asked. "What's wrong? Is something near?"

Her mind wasn't prepared for the assault of heartbeats, of the loudness that came with it. She, so newly hatched, was not prepared. So when the spell wore off after just a few seconds, she stopped screaming and took a few moments to breath in relief.

Her eyes were closed tightly as she flattened her ears, trying not to hear anything else. But, alas, she could still hear. There was sound in her mind again as she opened her eyes slowly to look at Vivilene - who had now skittered away from her.

Tears were streaking down her already teardrop marked face, as she mewed weakly and without confidence.

"Lowd..." she mustered up the courage to say, before curling into herself some. Yes, everything was loud. Though it was quiet now, she was unhappy. She wasn't sure what she had done, she just wanted to focus on... on what, exactly?

'To find the other creatures.' she thought to herself.

She'd wanted to focus, to find the other creatures. And she had, if she'd only paid close enough attention. If she'd focused on the heartbeats, she would have realized that yes, she could hear - see - the bats and the deer and rats and the rabbits. She could hear all of it. Well, those that were close, at least.

Her eyes widening with the realization, she looked up at Vivilene with her mouth open.

"I here'd dem!" 'I heard them.' She heard them all.

"speaking!"

Loud? Heard them? Vivilene didn't understand, and she wasn't sure if she even really wanted to ask. Maybe it was an Asteri-thing, but Asteri wasn't here to ask.

The hybrid shuffled on the spot for a moment. Maybe she didn't actually have much choice in the matter, especially since the cub seemed to be overtaken with... horror? Wonder? Fear? Awe? She wasn't very sure. Facial expressions didn't fully register with her yet.

There was another little shuffle. The crescent-shaped moonstone against her navel fluttered, and then the familiar presence grazed against Syphyl's mind. "What did you hear?" She asked with vague cautiousness, anxiety rising. What if it was something bad? "Where was it?"

More importantly-- was it a bad thing? Vivilene has heard stories-- story, singular, from Azure --that there were dragons here that charred everything, and dragons were bad (???) and should be feared and avoided. Vivilene wasn't sure if she believed in it, but the more she thought about it--

Moonlit eyes grazed over the cat. Maybe she should prepare to start carrying her.
