ORIGIN - [hatching] a cowgirl is born

For so long it had been dark. Comfortable, plain darkness. The gembound knew nothing else but peaceful, ignorant bliss, unaware that a sprawling cave system was around her, teeming with life to be explored and studied. That is, until she grew too big. the walls became thinner, but it made no difference. Each day the walls grew tighter around her, and soon enough the shell had become to weak to contain her.

A soft crack was heard as the shell fell into pieces around the young spider monkey. She blinked a few times, eyes adjusting to the now bright world around her. A small cracking twig caught the youngun's attention, calling her to investigate. She moved slowly through the grass, finally spotting the source, a small glowing creature, nibbling at grass it had in its paws. She crept closer, eyes watching the small creature curiously.

Until it spotted her.

The glowy mouse snapped its head up at her, tail twitching ever so slightly as it dropped its grass. She looked beside her, grabbing a fistful of grass before stretching her arm out, offering it to the mouse.

"H-here! I don't mean ya any harm." She whispered instinctively. Her mouth already conveying what she felt inside for her.

The babe stirred from within his rosy confines, eyes sealed shut as he tried to deny the inevitable clutches of the waking world. Youthful stubbornness soon gave way 'neath the undeniable pressures of reality, though, and his body begrudgingly began to stretch and fight against the peaceable interior of his chrysalis. The rose quarts crumbled relatively easily around him with a cacophony of crackling, leaving glittering pink fragments clinging to his baby fluff and littering the stone around him as his head rose from his fetal position.

Cold, fresh air filled his lungs for the first time and bright lights assaulted his sensitive eyes as they peeked open to catch a glimpse of his surroundings. Suppressing a bodily flinch at the odd influx of new information barraging his senses, the newly born child squinted his eyes half-shut and huffed a breath through flared pink nostrils as he gathered his legs beneath him laboriously.

Unsteadily rising to his hooves, his legs trembled beneath his weight and the foreign feel of solid ground beneath him. Focused now, more on himself than the new world around him, the boy found himself thrown off by the extra weight on his skull. More top-heavy than he anticipated, he staggered forward on shaking legs as his head dipped. Inevitably, his legs tangled with themselves and brought him back down on his chest and belly with his front legs stretched out and his back legs tucked underneath himself. A small noise of frustration escaped his throat, alabaster ears flicking at the sound of a voice somewhere farther ahead of him. The words were quiet and, at this distance, indecipherable to him.

It prompted him to get up, however, and he carefully gathered his legs beneath him once more and attempted to totter his way towards it with childish curiosity. Key word being, attempted as he traveled only a few feet before tripping over himself again and letting out a loud 'oof!' as his chest hit the ground and knocked the air out of him. Defeated, for now, he simply rolled to lay down on his side and pout with his head looking towards where he so badly desired to go.
