Okay, that had worked. Mostly-? She thought.

It was stumbling, a little, but-... good. Okay. She could work with this. There wasn't a fight about to break out, anyway.

"Good, then I will tell your future, and listen to what the bones have to say of you. Without asking anything in return," she added, as if to emphasize just how nice she was. Which... didn't mean much; she never asked anything in return, of course, but maybe it'd calm it down just a little more.

She was also pretty sure that it had just asked her if she was Vargas, but she didn't know what to say to that, right now, so she ignored it.

The hyena trotted to her bone pit, keeping sideways so one eye stayed on Alpha. It wasn't that she didn't trust it, it was just... well, she didn't trust it. She didn't know it all that well and a ton-weight or whatever giant toxic spiky thing high on mushrooms wasn't something she wanted her back to, just now. Or... ever.

It took her a moment to find a bone suited to the creature. She picked a big one: a large, thick... something, unrecognizable, strong and mostly pristine. It was a little pitted, at one end, but not charred, and it suited Orthoclase-Alpha.

She turned, flashing him a brief glance--a wary one, though she hoped it looked ominous and mysterious--as she trotted up to her overhanging ledge, past the lurking white dragon.

Okay, bones, I'm still alive--thanks for that, I give you full credit; the Orthoclase-Alpha thing. What's its future like? she asked. She focused on this thought--and then lobbed the bone downward, watching as it crashed into the bones--sparing Orthoclase itself only the briefest sidelong glance as it fell, to ensure the creature wasn't advancing on her, or something. Then her eyes fell back on the bone, even as it crashed into the pit.

And this, she didn't lie about; she never lied about her readings. Dark eyes narrowed, picking meaning from the chaotic movement, and she quickly began to speak. "You'll get what you put into this world. Effort you put forth--it will be rewarded! Harm you give, that will be returned to you! Everything is a cycle, and all of it is in balance, and it all comes back to where it started. Be wary what seeds you plant, Orthoclase, because what you plant is what grows." She paused, and looked to it. "That's metaphor," she added, and then looked back to her bones. "I see victory, in your future. Combat. Battle. All of it, won. I think you may bring justice, one way or another; or perhaps not, but there is fighting, and there is winning. But-..." Her eyes searched the bone back out, looking not at the way it had crashed down and thrown the rest so easily aside, but how it now rested almost alone. "But others will reject you--or you will reject them--and you will end up alone. You can try to change this, maybe; but if you don't, then that's what I see for you."

The hyena paused, looking down at it, watching it thoughtfully for a moment. "Do you have any questions, for the bones?" she asked it, simply.

@Orthoclase-Alpha
The orthoclase's head moved to track the hyena as she shouldered through the bones, made her way up to a good place to cast it; the motion sent another wave of nausea rolling through it, and it started as if it was catching itself from a catastrophic fall. Six feet on the ground, it pivoted. Maybe sitting down would help - ah, ah, no... Alpha swallowed, biting back a shudder of apprehension as the warping around it faded - Giggle'd let it go, or so it thought.

It sat its butt right there, for legitimate worry of experiencing that apparent world-shattering aura the hyena exuded. How had that dragon taken it so easily? Alpha glanced at the spot Bone'd gone off to, considering for the moments it took her namesake to finish moving.

For once, the kaiju listened to a monologue that wasn't being offered by its Overseer. It was quiet, staring intently across the way, chunking up every pause and putting them away as - ultimately - a positive reading. Not even the part of harm being returned disturbed it. Not even - "I don't mind being alone. I can protect myself," it growled, staring back at the trail.

"Do you have any questions, for the bones?"

Its head shook immediately, and it stood to leave - the motion sickness clearly hadn't worn off yet - but... hesitated. A few steps forward, and it stalled again.

This is selfish. I shouldn't ask - I shouldn't care - This is to find out if it's worth saving protecting them in any case.

At length - with wary glances of its eyes to Giggle, the bones, elsewhere - it asked, "I hatched with four others under the Overseer's eye. What - is their future?"

@Giggle

Giggle considered. Her eyes trailed off toward Tunnel P; that's where their lot lived, wasn't it?

"I'd need them each here for clear, individual readings," she answered, turning her gaze back on Orthoclase--but she was already trotting down, past it, to the bone pit. "But I can ask the bones for a general reading--for now."

She selected a few ribs--one twisted--still linked by strands of ligament and other bone; a medium-small thing that had belonged to something perhaps the size of a small dog, or a cat. This she picked up in her teeth, and carried to the top, before looking back down at the bone pit. She threw it, and watched it fall; and the bones did not scatter. She watched the way they linked with others, the way they remained on top, and she spoke.

"As a whole, I see battles won. I see... growth, and light, and good coming of them. Good triumphing over something dark, maybe. And-..." Dark eyes trailed from side to side, here, studying; "I see close bonds, I think. Friendship, or gifts, exchanges; links with others. The bones have linked, you see, but they aren't struggling. Cooperation, I think. An alliance? With another group, or amongst yourselves."

She then looked to Orthoclase, again. "You are welcome to visit any time--in peace--as is your Overseer, or your siblings... for readings, if you want them."

@Orthoclase-Alpha
A general reading was fine - it wasn't going to bring the rest of the bunch here. Simply coming by itself seemed... treacherous enough. It didn't have the full confidence that its Overseer had arrived on his own, either; and whether or not she was bluffing about that. Alpha simply nodded, and listened to the general reading, too.

It wasn't sure what answer it was looking for, but knowing that they might succeed, grow, stay together brought a peculiar flush of... calm to it. Time and training might've driven them apart (even itself and Gamma,) but at least they would endure. The orthoclase gave a huff and stood up quietly after Giggle'd offered further readings.

Swiping its tongue over its teeth and shutting its mouth with a click, Alpha just bowed its head - is that respect? - and moved off into the fortresses. As it brushed past the threshold between greater Canis and the pit, it belatedly called, "thank you."

Manners.

@Giggle

Her hyena brows have never shot so high so fast.

Thank you-?!

She blinked, and called back out, roughly: "It's the bones you should thank, but you're welcome!" Her tone was hearty, and she turned back, suddenly feeling a little better about all of this, toward Bone.

The fact things hadn't ended in a bloodbath at the pit was a huge relief.

She made her way up to the white dragon, glancing back once at the departing Orthoclase, before speaking.

"Well, that was tense. Now... Are you ready to begin?"
