Jasiri had kept to the Crucible.

There was water there, and shade as well. Though there were vultures, he'd found that they were, at least somewhat, easy to avoid, given that you paid attention. He was a cub, still, but he'd survived his first cycle, so he must be doing something right.

He was looking for a place to stay, was wandering around the Crucible-being predictable was how one got attacked by a Vulture-but he wanted to be able to know he'd have somewhere to sleep without having to hunt it down. So he trotted through the sands, ears twitching, keeping his eyes to the skies even as he scanned the mesas, catching something shiny, just barely.

Somewhere just out of sight, a particularly small scorpion scurried out of the way. Other than that, the ravine seemed empty, for now: clear and peaceful, and void of danger.

@Jasiri

His ears twitched, head tilting to the side, catching something, but after a long moment he dismissed it as no sort of danger, though of course he kept an ear (and a nose, and an eye) out.

Though he'd been looking for a den, he was, admittedly, curious as to what the sparkling thing was. So he trotted towards it, more wary than normal--it was new, and new was dangerous. The mesa was... tall, so he jumped up, dug in his claws, and proceeded to skid back down.

Jasiri was many things, and one of them was determined.

So he stared at the mesa, tilted his head. Paced from side to side, stared at the slight gleam of the shiny. Paced and paced and paced, slowly working out a path in his head, before beginning to slowly work his way across the mesa, placing each paw carefully, digging in those baby-sharp claws to keep his balance when he feared he might fall.

Finally, though, he made it, taking several deep breaths to test the air, twitching his ears, before peeking into the crevasse in which he'd seen something gleam.

The glint of metal, as Jasiri grew close, proved to be relatively small compared to what it was attached to.

The weapon was a spear: some seven feet long, its haft smooth, oak-like wood worn by wind and time, though protected to some extent by the rock crevice in which it lay. Its spearhead was sharp, chipped flint, broad at the base and pointed at the tip, and it was attached by a band of shining, beaten copper: a simple metal ring.

@Jasiri

The cub twitched his ears, squinting to try and see better. What... was that?

He stuck his arm inside, swatting around, until finally his claw caught on something and he pulled

and pulled

and pulled as it turned out to be massive, at least to something 'small' like him. It was... wood?, and sharp-rock on the end, something shiny holding it together. He perked up, staring at the shiny with wide eyes, tail twitching.

He wanted this, yes, yes he did.

Setting his teeth into the handle, he began to trot away, head high and paws awkward as he tried to compensate for its length and weight.
