The dragon nodded and watched as the hyena wandered away. No mushrooms but he could still chew the bones right? He fished around for a bit and just by chance managed to find the bone he'd chewed on previously. What luck! He laid down and began the busy work of chewing it over even more. For a while he waited and it seemed like the gem would never return but he trusted her so there he obediently waited. However, with entering the bloodlust that day and wandering around following Giggle he was a little bit tired. So before long he managed to doze off with his fangs still locked into the bone.

He started when he felt himself being nudged but immediately felt joy when Giggle returned. His tail wagged as he bounded to his paws and peered up into her eyes. A game? Or something like a game? What exactly had this girl planned? Confused but excited at the thought of something like a game he nodded his head vigorously in assent. Then he set off towards her den, following the instructions given to him.

He arrived before too long and looked around. What exactly was he supposed to do now?

Well-hidden in a crevice of rock high above and beyond her den, Giggle lay and thought. She was lying in the cool dark, eyes unseeing, her mind instead projected through the myriad fungus of Canis so that she could closely watch Baratheon and his reactions.

It was a game, yes--not a cure, yet. She had to see if he would tire, or what caused him to lose the state, or if he'd just rampage until he passed out, or what. The visions she saw were strangely shifting and crystalline, the sounds muted and blooming, but the fungus showed her well enough.

Back at Giggle's den, the scent of blood would become apparent only shortly after Baratheon's arrival. The den was always strewn with meat-clung bones, but the blood there was dried, though pervasive. Of course, were Baratheon already in a rage, it might keep him going.

And there lay the crux of it: several dead rats, strewn about the den and hidden, some a short distance away so that he'd have to spend a good deal of time sniffing them all out in his blood haze. The smell of blood would gradually fill the air, metallic and tangy, so that the entire den around Baratheon was one big trigger zone.

I wonder how long he'll stay in it? If that bloodlust of his will be overwhelmed by it, or prompted further until he loses consciousness...? I don't want to cause the pup-cub unnecessary worry, but it's important to know if he can be desensitized to it.

He was confused for a few seconds but that was it as the scent of blood suddenly became apparent. Baratheon tried to back away, to get away from that scent but he couldn't. A growl started to form in his throat as he all of a sudden paused, unable to get any sort of control with so much blood in the air. This was more than someone getting scratched or cut, this was a full on bloodbath and he was right in the middle of it. A savage joy awoke in him as his eyes quickly turned red and the haze overtook his vision. He gave a shrill roar of joy as he took off for the first rat, the one closest to him.

Upon reaching it he gave it the work over by grabbing it by the tail and shaking it about, the same manner which a dog might do with a toy. The rat was literally in pieces before the scent of another nearby one gained his attention. He tossed the torn rat down his gullet and ripped into the next one by a similar manner only to throw it when he saw another one nearby. Unsure of which to take apart he grabbed one in his maw while the other he swatted with a paw, opening up more wounds and in turn making it more bloody which as a result enraged him even more.

With a flick of his head, the rat he had in his mouth disappeared down his throat so that he could quickly snap up the other rat. His belly was starting to weigh him down, the excess food making his body tired. His blood lust persisted because of the blood around and because Baratheon wasn't fighting himself as hard. No one was around for him to injure so what was the point? He let himself rampage and enjoy the fun of devouring rats.

He could still smell the other rats and easily sniffed them out of their hiding spots but he only ate one more, the rest he simply ripped to pieces before stopping and looking around at the carnage. For once, in his state he wanted nothing to do with it. All he wanted to do was lie down for he'd eaten far more than he'd bargained for but he was happy. With no one to fight and no more food to eat he sat down on his haunches then after a few blinks was back to his normal self, eyes pink and bright but also sleepy.

He looked around at the mess he'd caused and despite the blood on the ground he couldn't enter the Bloodlust again. His body was far too heavy, his stomach bulging from the excess food. Even if he wanted to enter the Bloodlust again he probably couldn't. Heh... Want to enter, that was a new one.

He looked down at his body, at the blood and guts on his normally white fur. He reeked of blood but he couldn't get excited about it right now. He could only sit and wait for Giggle to find him. He was certain that this would be one of the few times he was around blood and was safe to approach.

Giggle lazed in the little alcove, watching blindly through the fungus as Baratheon surrendered himself utterly to the bloodlust. This didn't surprise her; what did surprise her was that it seemed to simply fade once he'd sated himself fully, and that he was now sitting contentedly in an area still splashed with blood. She wasn't sure but he seemed calmer, and it was difficult to tell through the shifting, crystalline vision of the mushrooms but she thought that his eyes were back to normal.

Well, time to find out.

With a huff she stood and hopped down, trotting swiftly down to her den. It took a few minutes to get there, but she found Baratheon looking rather drowsy, and smiled at him. She kept a calm and nonthreatening demeanor just in case, but she was relatively sure--relatively sure--that he was okay, for now.

"You're surrounded by blood, but here I am talking to you. How do you feel?"

He waited for Giggle to come and after a while she did. The dragon's eyes didn't want to stay open but he forced them and gave a little wag of his tail when she came. He would have gotten up but he couldn't find the energy to do so. He simply watched her slow approach with a drowsy smile upon his face.

At her question he looked around at everything about him. The destruction, just as his hallucinated vision had told him. However, it was only rats so it was better than wreaking havoc on creatures like himself. It he could just limit everything to this then perhaps he would be just alright. His pink eyes looked back up to Giggle. "I feel tired..." He reached one paw up to pat his bulging gut. "And full." This was spoken with a slight laugh but was ended with a loud belch. "Excuse me." He lowered the paw to the ground and then himself, content with lying in the filth and blood of the den. His eyes were starting to flutter closed but he doggedly tried to keep himself awake, staring up at the hyena above him.

Giggle smirked, and leaned down to give a couple quick licks over the top of Baratheon's head, as if to smooth his fur back into place.

"Sleep here, and I'll rest nearby, and we'll see what happens when you wake up, hmm?"

Her intention was to go and gather a few more rats, and lay them about while the dragon slept. Maybe when he woke, if he was ready to go crazy again, he'd do it on the rats. Could such a frenzy be conditioned to apply to true prey animals, first? She'd also have to find some way to keep the scent of fresh blood on him at all times, and see if that helped him to tolerate the odor better. Maybe if she could find a way to hang a fresh, dead rat or mouse around his neck? If he had the scent of blood on him at all times, surely the bloodlust at least wouldn't come suddenly and unexpectedly. Maybe he could even learn to predict and control it altogether.

These thoughts circled through her mind as she curled up to the dragon, giving him a few more motherly licks and nuzzles. She was one "mother" that the scent of blood would never bother, and that the carnage of torn flesh would never put off. As it was she was content to rest beside the dragon until he fell asleep--tucking him in, in a way--and then she'd wander off to begin preparing for when he woke.

The dragon nodded his head and still covered in the scent of blood curled up next the hyena. His eyes fluttered shut as he nuzzled into her side, tail curling up around him as a sort of comfort. He was perfectly happy there in the mammal's warm flank. It reminded him of when he had first hatched and he'd laid his head onto Flafe's soft side. It was comforting and soon he drifted off into a peaceful, dreamless sleep as he regained his energy.

He wouldn't feel Giggle leave, he was far too deep into sleep for that. He would sleep for as long as he was allowed but if anything disturbed his slumber he would likely awake.

She wound up falling asleep, and napping for a couple of hours. When she woke, she slipped away while doing her best not to wake the dragon cub, and went on yet another hunt.

The rats near the western wall were making themselves far more scarce, these days. She would have to find another hunting ground, for awhile, both to let them repopulate and to make them forget the hunters. For now, though, she managed to snag three or four, carrying them back two at a time in her jaws and quietly laying them on the floor some distance around the dragon.

She still wasn't entirely sure how she could hang one around his neck, and so she went to her fungal garden a few yards away to try working with that.

Perhaps she could use the fungus...? It wouldn't last very long, on Baratheon, but there was one particular mushroom that was harmless, tasted foul, yet smelled of carrion and blood. It might also, she reflected, teach him that succumbing to his bloodlust was a terrible idea, condition him out of it?

She shrugged internally; it was worth a shot. There wasn't even any need to take any from the garden, either--she had some of this always growing in her fur, stringy and dull, though usually so small and sporelike to not give off all that much odor.

Concentrating, she attempted to coax the stuff into coating her, particularly thick around the throat and neck area, hoping to create a collar of her own in case the waking dragon found himself in a haze once more. It took some effort, and it was not quite as thick as she would have liked, but soon a carpet of orange-red fungus was coating her body. It was more like a sponge around her neck. She flopped back down close to the dragon, closing her eyes and ready to rest again, waiting for him to awaken on his own. She now smelled just as strongly of blood and meat as the entire surrounding den, though a bite of the fungus would taste pretty horrific.

If he legs me, I'll grow him a collar of the stuff. Or maybe find a way to grow a couple rat tails together and make him a collar of rats. Hmm.

Dark eyes slipped closed, and she awaited the dragon's awakening.

It was the scent that woke him up. Since he was still a little full the dragon was able to get himself awake and on his feet before succumbing to his Bloodlust. Perhaps this in itself was a good lesson. Keeping himself well-fed would give him an ample warning before he fell into the throes of his disease. He would store this lesson away for later use but for now he needed to get away from the hyena before he hurt her. He loved being around her for she reminded him of being comforted like when he was with Flafe but that was the thing... He didn't want to hurt her.

A snarl ripped from his throat as he forcibly made himself stumble away from her with the red haze already starting to come over him. "Sorry... I... Can't..." He growled out, the sounds more like feral noises than real words. "Gotta go...." With that he slunk away from Canis in hopes of finding a lesser gembound to eat.

Giggle woke drowsily upon seeing the young fluffdragon wake--or rather, hearing him. At first all she could do was blink bleary dark eyes, but then she realized what he was saying.

It's on him, again. Controlling him--almost. Well, this is a step, I guess.

But if he felt he was going to lose control, then of course it was best that he go. She found it interesting that he had the control over himself to state as much before being driven into a frenzy, and so she stood and called out after him.

"There was control, there; focus on it. Goodbye, for now, and do come back," she shouted. She liked the dragon, there was no denying it; he was like Bones, like a cub, a pup to look after, innocent and naive. She could only hope that he didn't cause a great deal of harm out there in the caves--and that he returned, and returned safely.

With a soft huff the hyena glanced around, flopping back down and looking around. The ground was still littered with bloodied bits of bone and meat. With as close a thing to a shrug as a spotted hyena could give, Giggle leaned over, picking one up and crunching into it.

May as well finish these.
