If they'd just split and ran like they were so graciously advised to - Alpha gnashed its teeth, barely peering out of its periphery as more and more of Batcat's feral copies flooded down. In that dark mass, it could see as that idiotic horse crashed back into the fray, nickering something about - I told them to run.

The orthoclase was many things, but a fool and an altruist were not among them. James's plea fell on deaf ears, drowned out by yet more awe as the deer dove back in. He was promptly swarmed, and sure to be ripped to shreds, too. One less target for the spawn to run after. They'd spread out eventually, and it was too close for comfort.

Alpha's teeth grit harshly again. The screeching was deafening enough to not have to worry so much about making a quiet escape. It'd learned when to take its losses and slink away to safety - and it'd learned that everyone was utterly useless when it came to these sorts of endeavors. They'd listen next time.

It rocked up slowly, creeping along the wall before bolting down the thoroughfare with the wind beneath its feet.

The green-horn was also swarmed. The screeching quickly grew unbearable. Everything in Aleph told them to leave, leave, please leave, don't do this-- but Aleph wanted, with all their heart, to stay. They wanted the power to fight these ugly, wicked creatures tearing up the sky and the flesh of innocent creatures. But they didn't have it. Well, neither did anyone else, it seemed. That's why they were all swarmed or running away. Aleph didn't want to have to run away...

But wait, about that huge, brown, green-eyed beast. The rock thrower had screamed at it to help. Why hadn't it? Could it have? It was slinking away, not respondent to any plea. Cowardly... cowardly like Aleph had been. But it had seemed to powerful? So large and intimidating? Was it just a disappointment or... did it want this?

Aleph was running away, before they could even think to stop themselves. Running as fast as they could, with a single thought. 'The savage?'
