forgraves still, surprisingly, hadn't actually explored alot. he visits eridanus, but thats it. thats the only place he knows. he knows canis only because azrael lives there, but eridanus is the only one azrael had shown him fully.
he looked up and saw the monarch again. he and venti were gonna climb it, eventually, werent they? he wanted to see if it was actually as bad as azrael said. it was definitely scary at the time, but maybe he just had a bad reaction to the spores.
he walked closer, pushing through the ferns, looking up.
he tried to summon forth the new spell he had learnt, hopping upward, but it failed, and he fell onto the floor again pathetically, luckily not hurting himself this time though.
he huffed in frustration.
he knew magic was never his strong suit, being hesitant to use it ever since the first time, and that was cycles ago.
he growled, trying again.
this time when he summoned forth his magic, he, quite suddenly, flung himself high into the air. "w-wOAH! AAAAH-" he yowled in shock, as he was flung up high. as he realized what was happening, he flailed a little better, and fell onto the monarch
he coughed as a large cloud of spores seem to immediately release on impact, which he honestly should have expected, but was still scared and surprised all the same.
breathing in, he began coughing horribly. his world began spinning, the effect almost immediate. he whimpered, looking around, like the world was crumbling into pieces around him and he couldn't move. except he could, and as he took steps forward, his stomach lurched with every step into the seeming abyss that didnt result in him falling. he couldnt see where the edge of the monarch was, he was scared to move, every step uncertain and afraid.
he coughed harder, blinking, looking around, the world was returning but was almost red in color, flames that didnt seem to even exist nipping at his feet and he couldn't run from it, he couldn't run from anything. the flames reached out almost like a pair of arms, threatening to surround him, clamp hard around his throat and do something terrible, kill him? throw him off into the abyss below? or just off of the monarch? where was the monarch? where was azrael? why wasn't azrael here? did he do this? was he too naive? too naive to realize not every creature was going to be like azrael, or, was every creature like the azrael he might know now, here, he didnt know, he hated not knowing, he hated fire, why would azrael do this?! he didn't like it, destructive, powerful, bright, terrifying and suffocating in its smoke, oh god where was anything, it was going black, he couldn't feel, he couldn't see, where was he, he was dying, dying, dying, DYING-
and then he snapped out of it. he had fallen over, he wasn't sure of what he had done, had he passed out? was most of that a horrible trip inside of a nightmare? he didn't know but he wasn't sticking around to find out, he needs to tell venti that he shouldn't ever come here, azrael was right, the mushroom was bad, very very bad. with the last of his bounce he flung himself safely to the floor, wheezing for air. he was never coming back to eridanus.
