[set somewhere between when the eden is set up and they start building]
sheng had snuck away. he excused himself and, stone in hand, he ran off. he didn't go far, he didn't want to get lost, or his child to get lost should it hatch without him, but he wanted to do this now. his heart was beating with unbearable excitement and anxiety.
he found a little crawlspace in the wall of eridanus, and padded in, looking around. he nodded, seeing it fit.
he moved towards the back, setting the stone down.
he hesitated. would he be good for the job? would he be able to take care of his child? would they have a home by the time they hatched? he hoped so.
with a deep breathe, he pressed his hand into the stone, focusing, trying to summon the magic required.
he huffed, unable to summon really anything, fizzling out. he thought for a moment....
he wondered for a moment if this was worth it.
if he WOULD be a good father.
he could only hope.
determined, the tried again, pressing the palm of his hand into the stone once more, focusing again.
after a minute, he was worried nothing happened again.
he looked down, realizing he was out of breathe, smiling warmly as he saw, yes, his magic had worked.
he stepped back, watching only a moment more as the magic finished the job. he sat down for a moment, just watching out for the tiny gem.
