"Rude to walk away when someone is talking," Sunny said, intentionally softening her tone. This was a child, after all. Comet might not have known.
"Rude to leave Sunny-snail waiting. Would not walk away from you. Given, Sunny-snail is not very fast." The creature grabbed another bite of her ferns and continued to ponder grand-mother.
Finally, she said,
"If you and your fathers would like a mother, I am findable. Follow the littler slime. Big slime is Oka-snail -- good, but not me." Not everyone wanted or needed a mother. Sunny could accept that, even if it was a little disappointing.
@comet
Calmly, Sunny watched Comet go. A strange one, certainly. Not one of her family, not like Madhukar or Tema or the little life-stones, but maybe one day. There was always a chance, with things like these. She returned to her ferns, considering her family again. The sense of near-jealousy she felt when she thought of them elsewhere -- like Oka leaving her for the city-builders, or Carja staying with Monceros.
Not a good feeling. She had no claim to those two -- nor anyone else, really. Just because she was their mother friend didn't mean that they had to stay with her forever, after all...
