Comet's voice came unexpectedly, and from an unexpected place. Mayfal had been so focused on their prey that they hadn't noticed her moving. Because of this, Mayfal dropped the rabbit and jumped backwards with a yelp.
They then realized what they had just done. They quickly regained their strong stance and coughed a little before saying, "Yes, it is, isn't it."
Even if Mayfal hadn't been blind, they would have reacted the same way. And they would have been just as embarrassed.

Keeping an air of totally-not-embarrassed, Mayfal said, "Nothing to be sorry about. Let's take this back first."
They were ready to eat some more and there would probably be enough for them both to have a snack. Mayfal also had the ulterior motive of getting some answers to some questions. Mostly about Comet, but about the place they were living in as well.
Mayfal went to pick up the rabbit, but just before gathering it in their jaws, they decided to have some fun.
"Race ya'." And they picked up the rabbit and bolted. They hoped Comet would play along. It would be fun to see who could go faster: the blind fox or the seeing wolf?
@Comet
Mayfal was still blind. This meant Mayfal couldn't tell where the rocks and roots were that would get in their way. They tripped a few times and heard Comet run past them. Then they heard Comet's cry of victory, and Mayfal kept running toward that sound. They couldn't have expected much else besides this outcome, so they weren't upset. Besides, it's hard to be upset when you're about to eat.
Mayfal placed the rabbit on the ground and congratulated Comet with a smile. Then they started pulling the rabbit apart.
@Comet
Mayfal was so surprised by the wolf's question that they almost choked. Had she read their mind? Was it that obvious that they wanted information? Or did Comet want the same thing?
"Well..." they started after slowly swallowing, "How did you and I come to be here? And what is here?"
Maybe that question was too intense.
"Also, how old are you?" Depending on how old Comet was, she might be able to answer more or less of Mayfal's questions.
@Comet
20 days? Just over twenty DAYS? Mayfal never would have imagined. That meant Comet probably didn't much more than they did. However, Comet could see. That gave them information that Mayfal didn't. What questions could they ask about Comet's sight?
"What other places are there besides Eridanus?" they couldn't see signs even if they existed, but knowing the lay of the land was still important.
"And where did you find me?" They were curious about that as well.
