Sunny had returned to Eridanus, buzzing with possibility, atop the kooru. The strider. No-- the Voidstrider. It was a lovely thing, to finally have a name for her. On the way Sunny had been distracted by one of the little Oily moths and had tried to have the kooru catch it in her tail (Sunny had wanted to eat it, she'd assumed) but had otherwise made haste back to Eridanus. It was where most of her friends were. In this case, she'd be going to Binh -- dear Binh, who'd returned from the dead! It felt as though the Chaos had brought him back -- and she puffed herself up. "Voidstrider," the snail said warmly. "Call for our family."

The kooru brayed loudly and she added her own voice to the mix -- "FRIENDS OF SUNNY AND ALL WHO WISH TO BE!!! GATHER HERE!" She had plenty of things to tell them, and an invitation to crawl within the Void, with her as their overseer. To take chaos into their own hands and turn it into something... good.

But most importantly, this was going to be fun.

Kalaziel was quite the explorer. Going out of their way to see anything and everything that they could get their eyes on. And so, they found themselves at a large mushroom. It looked... weird. Kalaziel wanted to climb it.

They were trying to figure out how to get their limbs up there, but then a voice called out and interrupted their thoughts. Calling out to... whoever was out in Eridanus. And of course, the feathered worm was oh so curious.

So they looked for what was making the noise - a strange slithery thing with a shell. Kalaziel could even see insode the shell. Now that was cool!

"Whas' with all the yelling?" the creature questioned with a beak full of rows of teeth.
If you take care of me, I'll take care of you

It heard from afar, the calling of the creature, through the canopy in the trees. It followed, as it always did, the curious deity, the wandering god, to the voice it did not know, as if it held some secret, some great unknown that it had to unravel. After all, knowledge was its domain - beyond flesh, beyond physical form, there was nothing but the mind and the entropy that plagued its path. The darkness it had glimpsed within the Oil some cycles ago, that it had, perhaps, neglected to pursue. After all...much dwelled in the light still to discover. Why plunge into the darkness before it was time to See?

It did not understand when it looked upon who had spoken. A lesser - a kooru, is what it was called - calling out into the vastness of Eridanus. But lessers could not think - this is what Regalia knows, this is what she has seen. Was this Sunny or was this some puppet, bound to a great hidden out of sight?

No - there, upon the Kooru's back. A creature, small and insignificant, its very heart visible through the shell meant to protect it. Was it the puppeteer? Was it the one that roped in the lesser, had it speak in its name, had it carry it where it endeavored to go? Regalia had to give it credit for its resilience. Even with a body as small and weak, it had found strength in magic and through strength it had Imagined. And so the wistful goddess drifted forward, out of the darkness, out of the shadows, towards where the friends of Sunny would gather.

It did not speak - not yet, but pulled itself free, a wispy tendril of smoke drifting forward, breaking from the mold of the cat-form it was forced (unwillingly) to take, to brush softly against the creature. So See, to Know, to Understand the wielder of the strings, the writer of the plot. For this was an unknown, a blank waiting to be filled.

It saw...the snail, without the kooru. And a wolf in front of it. "If you and your fathers would like a mother, I am findable. Follow the littler slime. Big slime is Oka-snail -- good, but not me." A mother, then - or one that wanted to make a family, wanted to be a mother. Not an answer, but information. The wolf looked dejected and apologized again. "I will not do it anymore." Had this wolf...upset her, somehow? And then she was offering a goodbye and leaving. And the snail watched and Regalia wondered what she was thinking. What are her intentions...

As the memory faded, Regalia pulled the tendril of smoke back into its body. It would watch and listen for now - perhaps answers would come from the one she had watched, from the one that called itself a mother. But she is wrong. There is one mother, one father. And that is me - I am the One.
Buzzing with possibility, eh?

Madhukar herself was doing the exact same thing as the rest of Eridanus, in that case. She'd not only been summoning storms -- she'd been growing plants. Madhukar, boom kitty extraordinaire, near child murderer, GROWING PLANTS!! With magic, of course. Well, at least, she'd figured out how to do it. It was exciting news that made her face curl into a constant smile and added a spring to her step that usually wasn't there.

'FRIENDS OF SUNNY AND ALL WHO WISH TO BE!!! GATHER HERE!' Ope, that was her! Had that been Sunny? Dang, that snail could be loud if wanted. Madhukar bumbled her way over.

It seemed as though, at the moment, two others were here. One -- oh shoot, that worm thing! The other, uh... Madhukar decided to approach Sunny first. "Sunny-snail! I's me, Littl-- Madhukar. I's me, Madhukar. That i' m' name." The cat began to look... sheepish, actually. Visibly so. It was weird. It felt weird. Madhukar always felt so weird around the snail. Maybe that's why her magic didn't seem to work well whenever the snail was around.

Well, she was here now! She trusted that Sunny would explain... why she, or anybody else, was here. Soon.

Binh quickly retreated back to Eridanus after his close brush with death. The cobra was weak, and tired, and still a little wet, but he was alive. He was still unused to all the changes to his body-- mainly the horns and, er, massive eye right in his face-- but quietly slipped back to his old habit of curling around trees and watching. The experience was still fresh in his mind. Did... did something save him? Was it what Sunny-- no, Voidmother-- had experienced? Whatever it was, it aggrandize d his narrow view of the world and started to make him wonder: was there anything out there, watching him?

He hadn't wandered far from the entrance-- not like he could, really. All three of his eyes watched the cave opening expectedly, waiting for that telltale kooru to come through. It was strange seeing with more colors than he was used to, but at least his range of vision was increased to the point he barely had to turn his head to look around. Finally, it came: a lithe blue shape weaving between stalagmites, with a tiny snail perched atop. Before she had even called out, Binh was slithering forth to meet her.

As expected, he came a bit late, crawling through the underbrush and into the main clearing. Aside from the lady herself there was also some strange worm thing, a vaguely feline ball of sparkling gas, and a little kitten. The mute flicked his tail in recognition of the others, before slithering forth in a wide circle around the kooru. "I cooomee, Ssssunnyy," he rasped.

The bravest creatures are often the softest at heart

Time... Where had it gone? Well, it was no matter right now. Tema had wandered here and there, sometimes ephemeral adventures with Sunny, sometimes alone... and now it was time again to meet with her kin and the friends she had gathered. She couldn't help but smile at where the snail called from: the same place Tema had discovered her plant-bringing just a cycle before.

She practically waddled at this point, having grown much larger since her last encounter with the group as a whole. Her fur has lost most of the fuzz that marked her as a cub, becoming rather thick and starting to gain those telltale frosted tips that marked her as a grizzly.

It took her longer now than it used to, but Tema lumbered along towards her snailkin with a bright smile. She knew there wouldn't be much time for greeting before Sunny shared whatever news she wished to share, so the bear would be straightforward.

"Sunny snail! I'm happy to see you again kin! Once Sunny is finished snail-saying, can I show you my plant-bringing?" She didn't mean to interrupt anyone in her excitement at seeing the snail again, but such a loud voice would be hard to speak over. Though her wording was still a bit childish, Tema was clearly a lot more comfortable with her voice than she was a few cycles ago.

She offered a quick nod and smile to the others that had gathered so far, realizing that she'd need to properly introduce herself to the new friends later.

OOC Notes:

Kitty had been padding a small crook in the branches of two trees with sticks and stray leaves dampened from a recentish rain. She was trying to make a platform she could put things on, more than anything else, and had been disturbed suddenly from her thoughts by the braying of a kooru and Sunny crying out. She peered over the edge at the gathering crowd and turned her head to the side, climbing halfway down the tree and watching Sunny from above.

This... had the promise of being interesting, and assuming nobody noticed her, well -- that would just mean she had a bit of an advantage later on, didn't it? Besides, Sunny was persuasive. Kitty sort of really did want to hear what she had to say.
Voidmother waited patiently for her people to arrive -- her friends, and apparently, a couple of stragglers! She noticed the vague shift of color that was Regalia (although was unable to identify it as a Gembound), and she noticed the hybrid that was Kalaziel, but otherwise she picked out everyone easily. Madhukar, Binh, and her sister, Tema.

"I've had a vision, my friends!" she began, her voice tinged with warmth. "My many travels brought me to a place unlike any other, filled with magic where the color shifted and the light warped. I touched the stone in this place and saw something -- I saw chaos." She paused for dramatic effect. "A great entity came to me and told me that chaos came with violence, but I reject that notion! Everything is in chaos. Life is chaos! Rain and thunder, stone-meeting-magic, growing lives from nothingness, the wild and untamed ripple of new magic. But this chaos, it can hold love."

Her eyestalks twitched. An outburst was coming, she could feel it -- Sunny did her best to swallow the urge to scream, but it would bubble over before this meeting ended. She could tell. "Most of you gathered here are my friends. I am here to offer you a chance at this -- at embracing chaos, which is easy, and at rejecting violence, which is harder. I offer you the chance to be joined with me! To be like a family! Those of you who are close with me, you know that I seek to become a mother. To give Life to stones and to create New Lives from myself. To spread the sanctity of the snail across these caves!! But my desire, it goes deeper than that. I want to protect all who need protecting, and love all those who need loving. To those of you who wish to stay alongside me, we will be a family. We will be... Voidcrawlers. And I... will be the Voidmother!"

Golden lights narrowed by just a fraction as the snail spoke. It drifted in place, focus shifting around and holding on each of the gembound in its gaze, one at a time, observing each of the children that had arrived. Jealousy twinged at Regalia's mind. It had wanted what this snail had now - followers, children, someone to look after and guard. Those that would dedicate themselves to Regalia wholeheartedly. And here was this snail - this tiny, insignificant thing, doing exactly what Regalia could not.

But it didn't inspire hatred within Regalia, no, quite the opposite. It had to give credit to the snail - she had done an excellent job pulling this group together, despite her physical limitations. That itself was worthy of respect.

But then there was the matter of this cave, and the strange entity within. It was interested in this - as Regalia itself had seen chaos. It had seen it in the strange black, in the visions that the corruption had offered to it, and it knew that it was the path to truth, knowledge, and everything beyond. So it reached its magic forward and whispered into the air by the snail, "What is this stone? Where is this place? It is I that speaks, the lights behind you. I am Regalia." It did not indicate whether it would stay with the Voidmother or not, or if it would become her child or help her at all, but Regalia had already decided to follow these...Voidcrawlers. To watch them, observe them. If only to know more about this vision of chaos.
Kalaziel was incredibly confused when the snail started speaking out at the group that had gathered, and by golly there were a good few gembounds there. None of them compared to Kalaziel themselves, though. Not even the snail that called herself the Voidmother. Except for that... Gaseous creature. Looked like a cat of sorts, but held the colors of the world.

The snail talked about love, family. Protection. Giving life? Most of what she said sounded good, except for.... well they didn't understand what they snail wanted to achieve by infecting the place with snails all over. Surely most of them would be eaten? Kalaziel didn't know what kinds of things would eat snails, but they looked too squishy for their preferences. The snails wouldn't be able to move very fast, either. Maybe the snail just wanted a lot of kids or something. Kalaziel didn't really get that themselves.

Kalaziel didn't leave however, they stuck around to see what happened. The prospect of the group sounded... almost nice in a way. Some things confused them. The chaos, the need for so many snails, but maybe the others could have some insight over that?
