Sora had looped back after getting Pride had left Pisces. He'd ta
ken his stones, and now she was bringing Simon's back here in the diamond basket, draped around her neck and bumping into her chest as she moved. It had been by scent that she'd sought out Morganite, and her ear flicked with distaste. Hadn't they all agreed to leave Canis? Still being here, imposing on the Bonebound--? She was almost regretting this decision.
Since leaving, Sora had earned several new scars (rather fresh) in her flank and shoulder, and stomped on the ground as she noticed Morganite's black form over a ridge of bones.
"Hey," she called, less of a greeting and more of a way to get her attention. Sora did not hold the warmth Morganite might have been used to her in her voice, and it was abundantly clear that this was not her coming here to apologize.
"We need to talk."
@morganite
Sora eyed her -- the hog was in good shape, despite her scars. She'd been eating and exercising regularly, and the Warrens had more greenery than Canis did -- plus she wasn't above scavenging other Gembounds's kills or snatching fish from the shallows. But Morganite's wellbeing was none of her business.
"Yeah, I am," she grunted, and tipped the stone gently out onto the ground. However, she had a leg in front of it, and raised her chin as much as she could.
"I'm going to give you this," she grunted, knowing there was no mistake about to whom it belonged.
"But I'm going to make sure you understand something first, alright?" Sora waited for Morgan to respond.
@morganite
Sora snorted.
"The worst thing that happened to me or Pride was the heat and our own screwups." Her head inclined slightly, and she noticed Morganite's disarray. She didn't bother pointing out that it wasn't the hybrid's business anymore -- she wasn't
cruel.
"I'm making you a promise here," she said, her voice getting softer and hardened by a dangerous edge as she looked down at the stone.
"I will give you his stone. I will let you revive it. I will let you have some part of him back, even though it won't be his mind."
She frowned.
"But if I ever hear that you've been treating him like you've treated me, if I ever hear that you're dragging him into your trauma instead of letting him live free from it, and if I ever hear that you talked to him like you've talked to me..." She met Morganite's eyes again.
"I will take him back, and I will treat him better. Do you understand me?"
@morganite
[lowkey suicidal ideation] [psychosis]
Sora narrowed her eyes and scooped the stone back into her basket.
"Grow up and look at yourself. Pumpkin doesn't need us anymore, especially doesn't need me, and I don't want to be around Charles right now. I don't want to hear about all our fucking problems every second of the day and all the pricks who made it happen. I just want everything to be QUIET for once! Your problems are not the only fucking problems that matter, Morganite. Have you even considered how I might feel? How the Trial might have affected me? Here I was, willing to give you a chance -- willing to give you Simon back, to give his stone to you instead of keeping it when I damn well should have -- and you throw that back in my face." She shook her head, and just... snapped.
"Take a fucking guess, Morganite, and look past your own goddamn nose. I was proud of myself. I adored my body. I didn't have antlers or claws or sharp teeth 'cause I didn't fucking need them -- I loved how I looked. And then the fucking Merchant ripped that away from me, just like he ripped away my family, and while I was trying to keep that to myself like a fucking adult you call me disgusting as if I didn't already fucking KNOW THAT and you have the nerve to get upset when I'm angry about it!"
She stamped her foot.
"I have voices in my head, Morganite! I hear the Merchant telling me every fucking minute of the day how I am worthless and how I couldn't protect them and how I should have died instead, and you know what? Maybe I fucking should have. Then I wouldn't have to listen to you bitch and moan about how I hurt you."
@morganite
Sora shook her head and turned away, her throat tight as she tried not to cry. There was no need for weakness here, not when she was facing someone who had made herself into an enemy. The hog flicked an ear, and laughed a bitter laugh.
"You said it yourself, Morganite. Things have to change because they did." She didn't care if Morganite had anything to say to that -- she was already leaving, the smokey quartz sliding gently against the bottom of the basket as she walked.
