ORIGIN - lemme slide into ur dm's (Dad Memories)

Oh... Oh! This was new!

The sudden consciousness of the brain! The awareness of surroundings, and of self--! The only sensations they'd known before were warmth, and wet, and now there was so much more anchored to the concepts that they had never been privy to until now! The warmth, how comforting! The wet, how natural! And yet... with greater understanding came greater gripes!

It was too tight in here!

They knew this from the way the walls hugged their tiny body, and how their insatiable need to move was stifled by it. Intrinsically, it meant that it was time to go, but they didn't quite make this connection. All they knew then was this impulse. To move! To feel! To perceive more than this! So they squirmed, and stronched their legs, and felt energy teeming under their skin that implored for them to... to... BURST FREE!

A lashing of magic coiled beneath them and became their fuel to ignition. Embellished with a surge of unnatural force, they sprang out of dormancy with the ferocious zeal of firework. Their pearly chrysalis uttered a single crack of warning before the tiny creature within--

--EXPLODED into existence, flinging shards of pearl in every direction!

BOING! The babe ejected six feet into the air and sailed with a whistle into the nearby undergrowth.

Pumpkin had, needless to say, been making a fool of himself on his way back to eridanus.

he'd practically broken a wing just waking up, fell into some mud as he actually got here, he ran into the skeletons several times trying to fly through it and when he finally got to the tiny cave he hit his head, as he was flying too high.

it wouldve been any day now, you couldnt blame him for being-

cRACK!

the shatter and burst of the small chrysalis nearly sent him falling out of the cave itself, flapping to regain in balance. however, as the small, round thing burst directly out into the underbrush below, he screamed. he panicked, diving down to try and catch his bouncy spawn before it broke something!

he dove, catching the small creature in his talons, floating mid-air to catch his breath.

"weren't you excited to get out?" he panted with a chuckle, looking at the little thing. it was.. adorable, really.

It happened so fast that the little puffball didn’t have the mental capacity to realize quite then what it all meant. Soaring through the air was a sensation that seemed innate. In spite of this, their wings remained tucked. Legs? Stronched. Head? Empty. Magic still fizzled around them as they cut a trajectory for a nearby smattering of blurry green.

Before something caught them—midair! ”AAHH?”

Talons clasped in the down on their back. In a fit of confusion and alarm and sheer delight at this development, which stopped the puffball from careening noisily into the bushes, they flapped their wings and twisted around to try to see what was touching them,

WHAT IS THAT WHAT IS THAT WHAT IS THAT WHAT IS THAT

Only for the baffling flurry of fluttering wings and squirming and tittering to dislodge them from the aerial grasp. The puffball just managed to orient themselves upside down, back to the ground and facing their first glimpse of their father as they plummeted gracelessly and utterly without a care in the world.

All the while, they thought,

WOW THIS IS SO EXCITING WHAT IS THIS WHAT IS THAT LIGHT WHY ARE COLOURS WHO IS THAT WHAT ARE THESE (WINGS) WHAT DO THESE DO (LEGS) WOAH IS THAT ME (TAIL) THIS IS FUN WEEEEE!

The other teeny-tiny bird creature was still very happily napping away, not very eager to get out of this lovely space of warmth and quiet... though it was getting kind of tight, and she couldn't really breathe all that well.

She wiggled and shifted, flexing her back instinctively, trying to get her egg tooth forward so she could snap it through the shell of her egg, her teeny tiny wings wiggling wildly.

Out she came in a burst of gross fluids and high-pitched screeching, falling to the ground and laying there, no bigger than Pumpkin himself was. Annie's eyes opened and she lay there, her downy feathers slicked against her body, her belly and hind legs not much better. She shook her wings out and peeped, her bright green eyes, so much like her mother's, inspecting everything.

She picked at the ground a few times before turning to face the ruckus behind her, blinking gently before deciding she totally wanted in on that!! So she tried to stand, her wings out and flapping wildly as she tried to coordinate not one, but two pairs of legs, each pair different from each other. At least her hippo genes kicked in after a moment, allowing her to stagger to her feet, wings spread out as she shivered, staring at the two of them.

One step, two steps, three- nope that was all she could do before she fell again, laying on her side and squawking, disgruntled by her current lack of mobility.
