cw;; some mild swearing
For Dip, the last few cycles had been peaceful.
She'd taken great care into preparing to travel with the wagon from the Collector-- her priority was crafting weapons, for now. Spears and great heavy maces and (her personal favourite) swords, all of varying shapes and sizes.
Although Serendipity took great care and pride into repairing ancient weapons found around the tunnels near Monoceros she liked making them from scratch. It made the weapons hers, uniquely hers. The process, too, was relaxing. Melting down the silver and turning it into something new; hammering and reheating it back into shape. She used the forge in her own den, tucked away into Monoceros for it, but on occasion, Dip liked to use her hands to soften up the metal the most.
Some things Serendipity didn't like, though, was that fucking wagon.
She'd taken practice runs with it. She packed some things into the cart and took it on a lap around Monoceros, pulling it herself. It was good exercise, at the very least. It got her blood pumping and adrenaline shot through her limbs. But, almost every time, something would vanish from it.
The risk was a lot. Sure, you could take some precautions-- carry the important things in bags and walk along the wagon in transit, but that wasn't good enough, in Serendipity's over-achiever of a mind. She had to make a new one.
As it turned out, trying to literally re-invent the wheel was turning out to be a problem. For some four-and-a-half cycles she'd been trying to figure it out. She tried with metal, first-- but trying to melt down enough iron and turn it into a wheel proved to be too much for her little den, and it was much too heavy.
And wood was an even bigger pain in the ass. Which came precisely to what, exactly, Serendipity was trying to do one fine afternoon in Monoceros.
The shelter Dip resided in (along with her sister, Azure, occasionally) was tucked into a far corner of Monoceros. In front of it was a wagon that the shirtless humanoid creature sat on, bent all the way over to stare down at the wheels.
It made no sense, even to her. "How did you get so fucking ROUND?" She asked of the wheel, who did not reply, as inanimate objects tended to do. She could tell how it connected to the rest of the wagon from here-- spurs and bolts and nails. Her mind was good with that sort of thing.
It was just everything else that vexed her.
"And you're big," she went on irritably. The humanoid eventually dropped down from the edge and grabbed her teapot, sticking her hand inside it. Fresh water formed around her palm and dropped into the crevice.
In went a teabag from the Collector, and onto the fire it went. Serendipity sat down by it as she wated for the thing to scream like it always did when it was ready, angrily side-eyeing the wagon.
