Adonia had just woken up from a nap. Her siblings were downstairs with big sister Comet, and she had gone to take a nap. Big brother Sun had left after only spending one night back from his adventure to the tench in Eridanus. She wasn’t sure why he had had to go on his little outing as all he would say was that he would have something very special for all of them very soon. She couldn’t help but wonder what it was that he was that he had for them. A wide yawn parted the little lion cubs jaws as she cast her gaze about the middle platform of the tree house where everyone slept. The little lioness cub let her tongue pass over both sides of her muzzle before standing up.

After standing up the little lioness cub headed up to the top platform, here she found the remains of her chrysalis. The beautiful deep red stone that matched her gemstone. It was pretty up here and there was a nice light that filtered in this time of day. Walking over to her chrysalis she looked down to the flowers that bloomed around it. She couldn’t help but wonder what that meant. The young lioness paced back forth in front of the flowers for a moment thinking, wondering what it could possibly mean. Did she have magic? Was she like her brother? Sun seemed to think that all would eventually have their father's magic in some form.

Adonia walked closer to the flowers growing there in a patch in front of her chrysalis. For a moment she stood looking at the different colored flowers. They were so pretty and apparently the last of her father’s life had caused them to grow, or at least big brother Sun had told her that. He had told her that he took care of the flower patch just as he had each of their chrysalis’. She stood looking at the flowers, then she lay down on her belly and looked really closely at the flowers. The little lioness closed her eyes for a moment she focused inward. She was feeling for something different within her. Something that wasn’t just her. However not knowing exactly what she was looking for she failed to find it. The little girl let out an exasperated sigh.

The lioness opened her eyes looking at the flowers. She couldn’t help but wonder if she truly had the magic big brother said she did. But then, would she really know what magic felt like if she felt it? Would it even feel different from her normal self? Was this even something she could actually do? She couldn’t help but think these things. She had never tried anything like this before and she had no idea whether this would work or not or if she was just going to give herself a headache. Still she wanted to try.

The little lioness lay gazing at the flower directly in front of her. It was a soft pale blue and very pretty with its thin bunches of petals. She tilted her head and flexed her paws. She would try again. This time as she felt around within herself, she found something. A tickle that felt a different color from the rest of her. She was gold and this, this felt like it was green. The same color as the plants around her. Then suddenly a wave of warmth rushed down her leg and out the bottom of her paw. Opening her eyes, the young lioness found a small blue plant growing right next to her paw. It was one that hadn’t been there before.

The little lioness jumped up with joy letting out a happy squeal, the little lioness jumped in circles. She was absolutely ecstatic that she had done it! She couldn’t help the excitement that washed over her. She had actually done it! She had made a plant grow! She sat down gazing at the little plant a bright smile on her muzzle. She wondered if big brother would be proud of her for being able to do what Sprig could do.

The little lioness let out a pleased giggle and leaned down to inspect the little seedling that had grown under her effort. She had done that! Or at least she thought she had done it. The little lion cub sniffed at the seedling and smiled. It was so cute! She wondered if Sprig had been doing anything with his magic in his time. Was he getting better with his magic? Was he able to grow better plants than she was? Could he maybe teach her? Was there anyone who could teach her how to use her magic? She knew that her father had had plant magic, but did anyone else? Could she maybe find someone to teach her more about her magic? The thought of being able to learn more about her magic, and if she could do more than just grow a little baby plant. She wondered if Sprig would be interested in learning more about their magic with her.

Adonia stood up looking around at the flowers and then the other three chrysalis, then back to the flowers. She moved back just a bit and stretched out a single paw in front of her. Closing her eyes she focused in on herself and looked for the same feeling and color she had felt the first time. However it would seem that finding that little bit of magic inside her would be much harder to find than she had hoped.

The young lioness let out an annoyed huff. She had done it once, she knew she could do it again. She just had to try harder. The little lioness looked at the flowers at her feet then paced back and forth for a moment. She could do this. She had done it once, she could do it again! It wasn’t just a fluke! She would make Big brother and sister proud! She would show everyone that she would be just like the one they missed so much. She would fill that hole that Renny, Sun, and Comet all had in their hearts. She would make their hurt go away.

Walking back to stand in front of the patch of flower, Adonia took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Again she dug inside of herself looking for that green color that she had found just that once. She found it, though not by any means was it easy to find the green magic within herself. But there it was, and slowly it came to her. As it did, the little lioness slowly guided the magic out of her body through her leg. Opening one eye the little lioness peered down as a small pink flower bud slowly grew just in front of her little paw.

'

The little lioness squealed but not loud enough to draw attention to herself. The little lioness looked down at her new pink flower bud, a bright smile spread over her little muzzle as she looked down at her new little plant. She had done that! She was doing it! SHe had done it a second time! The little lioness let out a bright giggle as she danced in a circle. Yes, yes, yes, yes!” The little lioness cheered to herself as she danced in a circle.

She was proud of herself, but then what child wouldn’t be proud of themselves for being able to do something they knew would make their grownups happy? The little lioness giggled leaning down to inspect the little bud. It was tiny and pink and resembled many of the other buds that were already in full bloom around the garnet chrysalis.

Standing up the little lioness took a deep breath to try and calm herself. Though she couldn’t help the soft joyous giggle that left her as she closed her eyes. Again she took another deep breath this time letting it out with a calm whew. Again the little lioness reached out a front paw and placed it on the ground, and again she looked within herself for that bit of green colored magic. It didn’t take her too long to find it this time as it seemed to come almost willingly. Slowly the warm green magic made its way down her leg and into the ground. There yet another small flower bud grew up from the little patch of flowers, this one an almost amethyst purple.

A bright grin spread across the little lioness’ muzzle as she puffed up proudly. The first bud had been pink, this one was purple. She couldn’t help but let out a soft squeal of excitement. It was truly going to be a big day for her. At least if things hopefully kept up and she could get her magic to keep working. The little lioness walked in a circle around the two new buds. They were small but full of life and vibrant for being small wild flowers. Adonia grinned broadly as she looked at the two little buds. They were adorable and she couldn’t have honestly been prouder.

The little lioness looked around the room at the light streaming in and onto her little patch of flowers. They were even prettier when the light shined on them. The little lioness took a deep breath and shook her body, she was shaking herself to loosen up her body. She had for some reason become quite tense. Stopping for a moment Adonia listened hard for her siblings and Comet down in the main room of the treehouse. Her sharp hearing picked up the voice of Comet telling the others a story of one of her adventures.

Giving a satisfied nod Adonia moved back to her flower patch and smiled. No reason to stop now, not when she had had two successes out five wasn’t really too bad. If she kept trying it would just get better wouldn’t it? Taking a deep breath the little girl closed her eyes and tried to focus, but it seemed that her magic would not be found this time as nothing at all happened this time when she looked for it.

Adonia let out an annoyed huff. It would seem that her magic would come to her less often than it actually would. At least for now her magic was finicky. That was alright, she would still keep going. What would be the purpose of stopping now? She couldn’t just give up because it was hard in the beginning, she never would have made it out of her chrysalis that way. Not to mention, that was no way to make Sun and Comet proud. A bright smile spread across her muzzle. Sister Comet, so wonderful and so much fun. She always had an interesting story to tell, and she was always so kind. Adonia hoped that at some point she could be like her. She wanted to be able to explore the world around her and not be afraid of anything. She wanted to be like sister Comet and know more about the world. Not to mention how brave Comet was, she wanted nothing more than to be like her and their father.

The little cub shook her head pulling herself from her thoughts. She could lay around and think about these things later. Right now she had a job at hand. Right now she was going to learn to use her magic! That would be one way to make Comet and Sun happy, if she could use the same magic as their father, that would make them happy. She saw how happy both Sun and Comet were when they spoke of their father, and the more they did, the more she wanted to be like him and Comet. Taking a deep breath the little lioness closed her eyes searched within herself for that green colored magic that was so deep inside her. Again the magic failed to come as she called it.

Adonia pulled her paw back from the two new buds and let out an indignant huff as she lifted her paw up looking at the pads. She wondered if it was something she was doing wrong. Was she actually going to be good enough at this to make her big siblings and Renny happy? She wanted nothing more than to see them happy. Putting her paw back on the ground the little lioness paced around the room for a moment. This had to work, if she were going to defend herself on her own one day she knew she would probably need the help of her magic in some way. Sun had told them about how Daddy had used his magic to save Comet and himself one time from a pack of rats, using his magic to call roots that flailed about and protected them enough to get away.

Adonia stepped out onto the balcony of the top floor of the treehouse for a moment. She looked up at the ceiling of Eridanus. The orbs that provided them light were absolutely beautiful. Here it was warm and comfortable and they never had to worry about food. Sister Comet always brought them plenty of meat when she visited. Big brother however was only able to bring them fruit and insects. He tried to hunt but just hadn’t quite gotten good at it yet. Adonia had plenty to be thankful for, but all she wanted right now was for her magic to work more than just a couple times. She wanted to be able to show the family that she had as much of their father in her as they hoped. That she could do what he did. She wanted to learn about plants like he had, and learn to heal others with those plants. But she also wanted to go on adventures, so knowing about plants would be even better to help her if she got hurt or sick.

With a flick of her tail the little lioness walked back inside the room and over to the patch of flowers. For a moment she walked back and forth in front of the flowers. Stopping she gazed down at them thoughtfully. ”Okay, I can do this.” The little lioness bolstered herself before closing her eyes. The little girl dug deep within herself searching for that brilliant green colored magic inside her. Finally she found it there in a pool waiting for her, gently she silently called to it and it came. Slowly the magic flooded down as she stretched out her paw and placed it next to the other flower buds. As she did so, a soft pink bud wormed its way up beside her paw.

As the little lioness opened her eyes, she let out a pleased giggle and pranced in place for a moment. The sight of the pretty pink new bud now blooming next to the other two, Brilliant blue eyes sparkled as she looked down at the three flower buds. They were perfect! So healthy and so cute! She was sure now, that it was just a matter of getting her magic to actually come to her when she called for it, but she was sure she could do this enough to make her family proud.

For a moment Adonia stood and walked down the ramp to the second platform. She was getting lonely but wasn’t ready to go rejoin the family yet, she wasn’t done practicing. The little lioness crept close to the edge of the platform where the ramp made a hole and sighed as she listened to Comet’s voice talking. She couldn’t make out what was being said, but she could tell that her siblings were enjoying whatever it was that Comet was telling them. She couldn’t see them from her place on the edge of the platform, but she could hear them and that was all she needed. Laying there for a moment her tail twitched as she listened to the voices on the ground floor. It was warm and comfortable to know her family was there.

Slowly the little lioness crept back up to the top platform and positioned herself back beside the flower buds. Again the little girl placed her forepaw beside the flower buds and closed her eyes. Taking a deep breath she went inside herself and searched once more for that brilliant green light. It didn’t seem to take her as long this time to find the magic. At least it was faster than it had been the previous times, and this time it came easier and flowed freely down and out of her into the ground. The little girl’s eyes opened just in time to see a red flower bud grow up beside her paw.

A soft giggling squeal left the little girl as she looked down, her chest puffed out proudly and she did a little turn. It had been easier that time. Perhaps her practice was already beginning to pay off. Though she didn’t get her hopes up to high, as she had failed more often than she had succeeded in this little study session. So of course there was a chance that it was just a fluke, that her magic was still too new to actually be used very well. She wasn’t entirely sure which way it was going, but she hoped that soon. Her magic would grow stronger and she could be that beacon of light to show that their father was still with them all.

The little lioness squatted down admiring her four new buds. They were small and different colors but all looking just like the flowers that bloomed in the little patch around her chrysalis. Lifting a paw the little girl ran her paw over the tops of the little buds a soft smile spreading over her muzzle. They were so cute! She couldn’t help the little swell of pride she felt over the four little buds. She was gently caressing the little buds with her paw. She couldn’t help but be proud of the things she had created.

However she wasn’t done practicing just yet. The little girl stood up and shook herself out. The little girl closed her eyes and focused again. She dug deep within herself and again this time her magic came quicker and smoother than before. Placing her paw on the ground beside the other four buds, she pushed the warm green magic down into the patch of flowers and yet a new yellow bud sprang up beside her paw.
