Serendipity had retrieved something some cycles ago.
She turned the hunk of obsidian in her hand. It shone in the dim light several other colours-- pinks and greens and blue. It wasn't like Dip had never seen a rock before-- but this one felt different. It was unusually cold, heavier than she would have expected.
It was pretty. Dip wanted to do something with it-- but what she had no idea --and while a few ideas floated around her head, Serendipity had decided thusly: practice a new spell on it.
Spell-casting, at least for Dip, was always a trial-and-error kind of deal. New spells just came to her at complete random, sometimes while trying to do other spells. She had found out, by trying to summon fire, that she could summon water, for instance.
Which was super helpful for forging, mind. And drinking.
On the outskirts of her den, just outside one of the walls, Serendipity sat down and took a breath. The flow of magicka was familiar, comforting, almost, as she sunk it into the dead gemstone.
The rainbow obsidian jittered, and after a moment, alarmedly, the humanoid dropped it. It... grew (maybe that's the spell), but not by much. It rooted itself into the very cave floor, between one of the stone walls and the wooden wall of Dip's den, growing from there to twice it's size, and then stopped.
It took her a moment.
"Shit!" She hiss-whispered. "Shit, shit, shit-- go back!"
For the first time in a long time, Serendipity was afraid. She'd only ever heard about two families before-- the first was Azure's, or at least, Azure's old family. Murderers and horrible people and manipulators that had made Azure almost afraid of the whole prospect. Made her paranoid and anxious and flighty.
She loved Azure. Azure was her sister-- but fuck, she didn't want to accidentally impart Azure's pain onto another kid.
The second was Attikias. She'd never met his children-- but the bloke wouldn't shut up about them. He seemed happy. He loved his kids and it seemed like his kids loved him. She couldn't be sure, but...
Serendipity bit her lip. She pushed up and grabbed her coat, pulling it on in a slight rush. She took her sword and tucked it into the sash around her waist, and before she moved to walk out of the den, she took the teapot and a teabag to go with her.
Because you can't just visit someone and not make tea for them.
