After a few days of walking pausing walking and pausing in the tunnel, Amaryllis and Mayfal made it back to Eridanus.

Finally.

Mayfal sniffed out Comet's location, which seemed to have grown in size, and followed without waiting for Amaryllis' directions. The girl was sweet, but Mayfal was anxious and figured she's be able to get around.

"Comet!" This time, they knew her voice would respond. They could hardly wait to talk to her.

@Amaryllis @Comet
Comet was busy taking care of her siblings when she heard a familiar voice call her through the trees. "Mayfal!" She called out immediately, pricking her ears towards the sound. Weaving between the trees, she caught sight of the white fox. "What are you doing here?" she asked cheerfully, happy that her friend had come to see her. And it seemed that they were doing much better at getting around on their own.

The closer they got to Eridanus the slower Amaryllis’ steps became. She was regretting leaving without telling anyone. Not because it had been wrong, but because she had worried everyone and they were sure to be angry with her. All six limbs drug listlessly as she followed along now behind the white fox she had met named Mayfal. She had been getting more and more depressed and scared to come back the closer they got. She was afraid they were going to yell at her, maybe even punish her somehow. It was absolutely hard for her to actually want to keep walking at this point.

A soft sniffle left the young girl as she walked forward. When they had started out Amaryllis had been quite a bit of a chatterbox, wanting to get to know Mayfal at least a little bit. Much to the foxes dismay as she seemed to mostly want to remain silent and wait to talk to Comet. Nonetheless Mary chattered as they walked, though as they entered the tunnel heading into Eridanus she had fallen silent and had become much more meek in her demeanor.

Amaryllis cringed as she heard Mayfal call out Comet’s name. All four of her rounded ears fell back against her head which was ducked down. The girl was half crouched, her currently feathered tail almost dragging the ground. Then she heard her sister call out in return. A grimace crossed the little girl’s face as she almost tried to hide behind the fox. It was obvious Comet hadn’t noticed her yet, as she slowly peeked out from behind Mayfal to half look at Comet.

Mayfal rushed to Comet's voice. Rushed to her question as well.

"I came to talk to you." Their voice became a little somber. Then they remembered Amaryllis. "Oh! And I've escorted your sister back. She feels really bad about going against your wishes. I don't think punishment would make her feel any better. She seems pretty sensitive. She reminds me a lot of you, actually."

If foxes could nudge, Mayfal would have nudged Comet on that last sentence. The rest was whispered, so Amaryllis wouldn't have to worry any further.

Despite the heaviness in their heart, Mayfal felt a little lighter being with Comet.

@Comet
Comet was alarmed by the tone of the fox's voice. Something was off, but then they remembered Amaryllis. "I've been wondering where you've been Mary," the wolf knew that Mayfal was nudging her on not punishing the small cub. Not like she was going to anyway, "I hope you've been having fun with Mayfal? I'm sure they took good care of you while you were out." Comet smiled at the fox, then remembered they were blind. "You do remind me of when I would go out on adventures myself." she paused, "Although next time you could ask me? I was really worried about where you had gone. I know that you are very capable of taking care of yourself, but it's always better to ask just is case." concluded Comet to Amaryllis.

She turned to Mayfal, trying discern what was wrong from their facial expression. There was also a strange scent on their fur, although she wasn't able to figure out what it was. "Should we talk in private?"

@Amaryllis

Mary stood idly behind Mayfal, glad to be forgotten for a moment. The longer she stood unnoticed the longer she went without being scolded. The girl swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat, as her stomach turned. The girl seemed to shrink down on herself as she waited to be noticed. The waiting she was thankful for now becoming a stifling sickness of worry.

Then Mayfal spoke up about her and she slowly shuffled out from behind Mayfal. Her six emerald colored eyes glimmered sadly as she gazed up at Comet, her four rounded lion ears were plastered back against her head. She honestly regretted running off without telling anyone, but didn’t think anyone would let her go that far on her own.

A wave of relief washed over the cub as she heard Comet’s even calm voice. The girl instantly perked up and smiled brightly. ”Mayfal is really nice, they walked me home!” Mary admitted readily though she hadn’t been ready to leave Pegasus but had done so at the urging of her elder sister’s friend. ”I’m sorry I left without telling you, I just didn’t think you would let me travel that far on my own. I really wanted to see Pegasus.” The girl apologized giving her reason for why she had slipped away on her own.

”I can go back to the house if you two need to talk. I’m sure Nia and Sprig would love to hear about my adventure.” She offered readily, though she had no plans to go straight home, in fact she wanted to know what Mayfal needed to talk to Comet about. She wanted to know what had kept the fox so introverted and melancholic through their whole trek home.
