Makyna nodded her head in assent to Leon's words. It was very pretty, a lovely purple that sat nicely on her head. "Yes, we'll be like a sort of home base." A little overenthusiastic, the lioness forgot that the gembound might not want to stick solely around Pisces which was totally fine. As cuts she and Leon had gone on great explorations. Still... with no supervision it had been dangerous. The lioness had even witnessed the death of another young gem... The caves were certainly a dangerous place. Should she talk this over with Leon later? Perhaps...

"We don't know your name." The lioness laughed before she pointed to the tiny she-wolf with a paw. "Do you have an idea of what it is, sweetie?" She asked the wolf. When they'd been born the name just sort of came naturally after a little prompting. Surely it was the same for this one. If not Makyna could always give her a name. She had no qualm with that.

The youth agreed, she wanted to be theirs - a strange term, the bear thought inwardly, but he supposed such a claim of ownership could make sense for a parent over a child. For a fleeting moment, the bear found himself mildly jealous, wondering what it wouls have been like to have an older Gembound caring for him when he was still younger. Maybe he wouldn't have lost Rohan, or maybe he wouldn't have fallen off the spire when he raced Fisher up to its peak. He would have had somebody caring to go back to, somebody that would have nursed him back to health and comforted him. Instead, he wandered alone - then he found Makyna. From then, they cared for each other. Was that why their bond was so strong?

The babe expressed confusion about her lack of a name. Leon blinked out of his thoughts, tilting his head as he looked down at the little wolf. Makyna urged her to try and think of her name. Surely she must have one, all Gembounds had themselves a name. Not all of them knew it as soon as they woke, but eventually they would come to recognize who they were, wouldn't they? Leon smiled and nodded, quietly encouraging her. "Try and think. It'll come to you," He added, spreading his lips in another grin.

they were oh so encouraging. leon and makyna made me feel like i could accomplish anything, embracing me with such love and compassion. i was blessed to have them, i was truly blessed they came to save me rather than an evil spirit. these two were sheer light, angels from above, deities with an enlightened outlook on everything. they were always willing to aid others, the weak, the strong, the poor, the healthy, the sick- and i gathered all of this from within minutes of knowing them. something quite remarkable, i might add.

my mind ceased the mulling on the pair as i then began to ponder my own name. i looked from makyna to leon, from leon to makyna, then down at my sienna paws. my mind churned, swirling around in my head all the syllables of the world, and soon some letters came together, and inwardly i sounded them out.

"xen. xennnnnddd. xender!"

as i spoke the fractions of my name, my face contorted as if i was in pain trying to sound it out. but rather, i was just concentrating really hard. and when the final product expelled, i was overly elated. i smiled wide, puppy teeth disclosing as my lips spread ear to ear. pale lavender lenses alight with happiness as i spoke it again.

"xender! i'm xender!"

i stood now, my tail wagging so uncontrollably that my butt wiggled with it. i pranced about for a moment, allowing childish play to overcome me. discordant 'yippee's and 'yahoo's exerted from me as i slowly calmed, and sat near them, this time looking at them both with the pair before me.

Makyna watched as the wolf began think, looking between she and Leon as she tried to get everything figured out. the lioness could practically see the gears in the tiny wolf's head turning as she pondered what her name was. Makyna could remember the time that she had to figure out her own name. It was an interesting thing to hear those syllables just come together to form a word that you could call yourself by.

The lioness laughed along with the joyful pup as she realized her name. "Xeeender! Xeeender! The lioness said in a singsong voice. Makyna sat up, looking down at the excited young pup. "So, are you hungry Xender? Hatching and almost drowning can work up an appetite." There was a multitude of fish around the cave so she would be happy to catch something. Or she could even go out and get a cave deer to fee all three of them. It had been a while since she'd had a good hunt.

Before long, the pup had started to sound out the syllables to a word - one that would hopefully be her name. Leon listened eagerly, paying close attention as her voice rolled and slid through a series of sounds that seemed to feel like home to her. Finally, she produced a single coherent word that she had soon determined to be the name she'd chosen: Xender. As she announced that that was who she was and started to bounce around, yeehawing and yipping about her name, Leon leaned back and laughed. Makyna sang the name and the bear clapped his paws together, humming along until the child had come back to them and the lioness asked if she was hungry. If that was the case, the bear could easily try to catch a fish in the river... for some reason, it always came naturally to him.

Eager, Leon rolled to his paws and bounced up. "I could catch us some fish." He suggested. "How's a nice home cooked meal sound, eh?" The bear crinkled up his nose in a cheesy grin and chuckled. He'd tried roasting the fish he caught a few times and he had to admit, it was pretty flavorful. Besides, had Makyna ever tried his cooking? Maybe it would impress her...

fish? hungry? my stomach growled, rumbling a bit and i looked at it. neck craning so that muzzle was almost parallel with my underbelly. my ears erected to a point, and i inspected the sound for a bit. soon, the giant leon stood, eager to catch these fishes they were talking about. my muzzle followed him as he rose, all the way up and i gawked in awe. he was absolutely massive. makyna also sat up, and she was rather large as well. not as big as leon, but still pretty big. i wondered, would i get to be that big? would i be smaller? would i always be this size? i couldn't wait to find out. pale lavender lenses darted from one giant to the next.

"fish? i wanna try it. can i come with you, leon? i want to catch fish!"

smiling wide, i looked at makyna. were they both experts in everything? i was so elated, so overly joyed with them and everything. so overjoyed that they'd found me, and took me in, when they didn't have to. such saints, i'd follow them to the ends of the earth.

Makyna smiled, looking up at Leon. "I think we have our answer." She gave a small laugh before flicking her tail tuft at the tiny pup's nose playfully. She then walked up to the water's edge and looked into the clear water before leaning back and glancing to Leon, a mischievous glint in her eye. "How about we make this into a contest, teddy bear? Whoever can catch a fish for little Xender first wins? You and Xender can be on a team." It wasn't really about the contest, she just wanted to have fun with her Leon and if they both caught a fish it would be even better.

"I can go to the other pond there," She pointed to one of the pools a couple of feet away with her tail. "So as not to bother your fish. What do you say?"

The bear turned and shot a glance at Xender, smiling widely as she enthused over catching fish and asked to go with him. "Of course! I'll teach you how to catch fish, alright," He snickered and turned to follow Makyna, only the lioness had stopped and thrown a challenge back at them. Leon first raised his brow, listening with interest to her proposition. So it was a fight she wanted, eh? Well, Leon could give her a fight! The bear scoffed and strutted over to the pond. "You're on, Songcat!" He answered. As he reached the edge of the pond, he swung his hip towards Makyna, intending on giving her a bump powerful enough to make her stumble to the side - playfully, of course, which he hoped that she'd caught on to. "Get on over to your pond and let the master show you how its done! Come on Xender, lets gets this party started."

With that, Leon stuck his tongue out mischievously at the lioness and gestured at Xender to come join his side. "I'm gonna teach you all about how to be a master fisher! But you gotta listen close, alright?" He began, waiting for the wolf cub.

they made it into a friendly contest, the two shooting competitive remarks at the other. promptly, i followed leon. he was serious about this, and i couldn't help but chuckle along with the affable atmosphere. i braced myself at the edge of the pond, apprehensive slightly. i didn't want to fall back in there, how frightening that was. but leon was near, he'd be able to help me back out. lavender lenses focused on the glassy surface, attempting to spot the fish.

"i'm so ready,"

i offered my own spoof of a competitive aura, my tail swishing side to side as i braced for leon to show me the ropes. i stole a few glances over at makyna, wondering how talented she might be.
