Comet took in the sights of the island, watching the waves crash against the base. The den was positioned well, it was very hard to invade, as anyone who couldn't fly was unable to get in. She herself would never have found it, not even if she had tried. Mainly because she couldn't get across the water that well.

Comet looked around at all the treasure. She herself didn't have a strong attachment to objects and she certainly didn't hoard them, although she could understand that everyone was different. The only objects that she really cared for were stones, since they held life. And trinkets, of course, that held meaning. Like the feather.

She nodded at his statement, noting how his excitement was oh so similar to James's when he was reviving the stone. He was still for a moment as he closed his eyes, and she got a temporary burst of worry as when James had tried it he had gotten a headache. Was Dread dead? But a moment later he opened his eyes again, and the stone turned into a chrysalis. "It is!" her eyes rested on the fiery chrysalis, as excited as the dragon was that this had worked. "No, no, I don't need anything in exchange. I'm just happy that the child is in safe feet." Yes, feet. She briefly considered asking if she could come back here to see the hatchling once it had emerged, but decided against it. It was the dragon's now, and she should not be part of anything in its life.

@Dread

"IT WILL BE IN SAFE FEET," he responded, almost automatically. A solid two seconds later his brain ticked over and asked if that was the right phrase and then confusion set in. Was that normal? Being in safe feet-?

He shook the thought away, visibly, like a dog shaking off water.

"I CAN FLY YOU DOWN. OR YOU CAN STAY FOR AWHILE IF YOU WANT. THIS IS GOOD! IT WILL BE A CHILD," he repeated, and briefly beamed.

Dragons couldn't really smile--not the kind with a rigid face, like Dread had--but something about his half-squinted eyes and raised, relaxed head screamed "happy."

He settled in, but as soon as Comet wanted to leave, he would gladly take her.

@Comet (I'm happy to end it here or if she wants to chat we can!)
Comet nodded, still unsure herself if that was the right phrasing for it. Safe paws did sound better than safe feet, but Dread didn't have paws. Why was it safe hands in the first place? She didn't know much gembounds with hands. Hmm... Sun had hands. ANYWAY.

"Could you fly me back? I have some things I need to do. Thank you for allowing me to come see this though!" It always gave her joy to watch a stone turning into a chrysalis. She wondered if she would one day see the child without knowing it. Hmm, whatever happened to Rain's children?

Comet had not known that such a face could smile, but she could see the happiness that was on Dread's face. The dragon was happy, she was happy, and soon a hatchling would come out that she knew would live in a loving home.

@Dread
(Sure we can end it here)

He leapt off the edge, catching himself with his wings; a few flaps later and he'd soared back neatly around, carried on the warm winds--expression quite content.

Feet grabbed carefully for Comet, and he glided back down again--escorted by the seabirds (to whom he often left bits of his meals; the scavengers were hoping, as always, for food).

Comet was gently deposited back on the beach.

"THERE IS A FORGE-PLACE UNDER THE VOLCANO IF YOU WANT STUFF," Dread called, after internal debate. His sharing of this location (a place where he could pick up lovely treasures--useless scrap metal, really) was a gift of its own, since Comet didn't seem to want any of his other glorious shinies (also mostly scrap metal).

Then he lifted off again, soaring back to his new "egg"--to watch it, roost on it, and eventually, hopefully, raise it.

Comet enjoyed the trip back, as the birds that followed them made her feel like she was a bird herself, flying with the others in a flock. It was nice. She allowed her tongue to loll out of her mouth, and was just a bit sad when it was over. At least she was back on the nice warm sand again though.

"Thank you." she replied, realizing that from a gembound who seemed to treasure and hoard such things it meant a lot for Dread to share a place like that with her. Comet knew she wouldn't go there however, but it was the thought that counted.

She watched as the dragon flew back, waiting until he was completely gone until she headed home, happy with her choice of giving the stone to Dread.

"Exit Comet"

The Raspite once contained a three-way hybrid of Flame Angelfish, domestic Cat, and Capybara.
