ORIGIN

Kitty had been making Pegasus her own in more ways than one. Particularly, she liked people watching -- various Gembound, both Greater and Lesser, crossed below her trees. This was her dominion, and that was theirs -- but ever since Forgraves had told her about the Underforge, she'd been wondering.

She'd tried to go herself, but it had just been too hot. Kitty had too much fur, and honestly wasn't very big anyway (although Slimespace was plenty for transporting most things). She was people watching today when she noticed a long, inky shape prowling beneath her. It was big. Her ears pricked up as she slunk partially down the tree. "Hello there!" Kitty called, out of the creature's physical reach but close enough to speak to it. "Hello, hi-- I have a proposition for you, stranger!"

It should've been training, not just wandering- and yet it found itself walking through the trees of Pegasus. It was far more comfortable in the water- it had been made for ambushing from the murky depths. But the tree's dappled shadows, the gentle breeze and sounds of lessers made it pleasant in it's own right. But you should be training. Came a stern mental reminder.

A voice calling from a nearby tree caught it's attention, and it turned it's head to see a red-furred creature perched out of reach. "..Hello..." It replied, significantly less enthusiastic. "...Proposition?" Intrigued, six red eyes narrowed in on the other gembound. "What exactly are you offering?"

Kitty grinned. "You look like someone who's strong and stealthy, aren't you? Have you ever heard of a place called Leo? There's a place in Leo called the Underforge, and its filled with shiny things -- I want to get my paws on some of them, but I don't do too well in heat." Kitty shrugged apologetically. "But don't worry, my gooey friend, because I can offer you payment!" Her eyes sparkled.

She leaned in conspiratorially and stage-whispered, "I can tell you your future." She was doing her best to make that sound like it was a rare offer that she couldn't give to many people. "I can tell you what might happen -- and I can also look into someone or something's past. If you bring me back good loot, I will give you..." She paused, thinking, as if it was taking her serious consideration as to how much energy she wanted to expend on this.

Eventually, Kitty looked Lab over and said, "I'll give you a fortune if you bring me back treasures -- I'll give you the answer to any three questions -- and I mean any, past present or future -- if you bring me back something good." Ah, lying. She was getting increasingly confident at it.

The compliment likely meant to soothe or flatter it just made it slightly on edge- it was strong, and stealthy. It had trained it's whole life to be strong and stealthy. But hearing someone else mention that felt... weird. What does she want? It thought, because obvious the fact that she had pointed it out meant she wanted something of it. I do not owe her anything, she is not in the chaos forge.

Still, more out of curiosity than anything, it listened.

"I have heard of Leo." It had spent more than it's fair share in Leo, training it's swimming, it's underwater fighting and stealth. Then the small gembound continued on with her offer. The idea of 'payment' caught it's attention, though being called a 'gooey friend' was... offputting.

The offer of knowledge of the future- or past- immediately caught it's interest. That could be useful. And the task being presented for it didn't seem that harsh. Just collect some 'good loot' from Leo's underforge.

Three fortunes just for a little trip to Leo? Part of it was sure there just had to be a catch. "I have been to Leo- but only the bay. To your knowledge, is the underforge... dangerous?" Dangerous to the tiny thing in front of it and Labradorite itself were definitely different- but still it had to ask. Anything you fight down there will just be training. It thought. But was it really about to do this? For a stranger, unaffiliated with the forge?

Kitty paused. "I mean, it is to me?" She gestured at her body. "I'm covered head to toe in two layers of fur -- if I tried to go down there, I'd overheat and die. You're smooth and look damp -- I'm sure you'd be fine!" She grinned. "I know, I know -- it probably sounds a little too good to be true, but I've got to admit, I'm desperate. I'm just itching to see what sort of goodies might be down there." Her eyes lit up. "Especially magical ones! If you're able to detect magic, do that! It doesn't really matter what kind of magic, I just want to know what's around."

Her eyes were bright and excited. "As much shiny and rare stuff as you can carry, and I'll give you three fortunes in exchange. Do we have a deal?"

Labradorite made a sort of acknowledging hum, six eyes squinting at Kitty almost judgmentally. Tiny- no spikes, no quills, not even any extra eyes. Of course it'd seem dangerous to her. Everything must've, to something that small and defenseless. Labradorite lapsed into relative silence, staring down the reddish creature perched in the tree as it rambled.

"We.. have a deal." It's speech hesitant- was it still thinking over the deal, or just unused to speaking to strangers? The honest answer: both. "We'll meet at this same place, I suppose." Equal parts a statement and question as it began to turn to leave, seeing no point in sticking around.

Kitty's eyes sparkled. "Excellent. I'll see you then -- and I'll certainly be in the area, hm?" With that, Kitty dashed up into the trees. Her dark underbelly provided excellent cover when she was high up, but she was trying to be especially showy at the moment. Unfortunately, she broke a few twigs on her way up, and remained fairly visible even as she stood perfectly still on a branch that didn't obscure her as well as she thought it did.

Mostly, she probably looked pretty silly -- at least she was cute.
