A small, yellow monkey... thing... was hopping her way through Gemini. Why? In the pursuit of knowledge, that's why. The young gibbon desired to know it all. There was an incredible variety of landscapes here, and Researcher wanted to research them down to the dirt.
Plus, you know, she was planning on finding a place to live. This cave (which she dubbed in her mind as
Along her rambling walk Researcher came across a beautiful, crystal-clear waterfall. She tapped her stone curiously and clambered onto an outcropping to get a better view.
Hopping towards it on shaky legs (stumbling a bit here and there), Researcher prodded the bright portal in confusion and wonder, vaguely wondering if she could coerce the hole into doing something.

The rift seemed to repel touch, thrusting back with equal force and making it virtually impossible to make true contact. It was as though a wind blew through it--though it did not--which was stronger when one came very close.
The shimmering of it cast shifting patterns of light across the wall and floors, but otherwise--bar a soft thrumming, whooshing sound--it remained inert.

Researcher watched her finger repel away from the portal with great fascination. How come she couldn't touch it? She sniffed at her finger as best she could with a gem in the way. Nothing unusual on her hand for it to do that. That was strange. So, so strange. She had to study it further... some other time... when she had the preparation and resources to do so.
The ape made a mental note of the rift's location and bounded away into the crystalline depths, eager to see if there were any more strange anomalies in this shimmering cave.
