the chrysalis had yet to hatch, it would be only a few more minutes, but it would begin to shake.
the life within was slowly, ever slowly, waking up. the magic seemed to yawn, asleep for so long, shaking the chrysalis and stirring the creature within.
no thoughts yet, but soon, very soon....
Kitty had been out resting, for lack of a better explanation. Surveying her domain. Stationary in high branches, nearly invisible from the ground on account of her coloration, tail dangling off the branch she perched upon as she watched Gembound mill around below her. This was where she was safest -- invisible and silent, a part of the forest. People acted so strangely when they thought they were alone. She had been in the process of watching some kind of bird (whether Greater or Lesser, she was too far away to make out) as it investigated an intriguing rock.
Forgraves's panicked shouting startled her, the panda's head snapping over to the direction the sound had come from. Her eyes scanned quickly, already moving as she tried to pick out his white pelt. He sounded like he might have been injured -- an emergency, perhaps? The prospect made her nervous. She had... developed a strange sort of affection for Forgraves, since the thulite. As though she owed him something, despite the fact that she had incurred no debt.
She came to the edge of a branch, letting magic gather around her and materialize. Wings, batlike and huge, flared out. She had fewer horns than usual, the wings slightly more translucent than usual, but they were still sharper -- longer, more fearsome, and positively handsome with it. Her inner chaos was rising. She leapt, claws outstretched, as her magic supported her. Kitty's heart leapt with the exhilarating feeling of flight as she approached Forgraves, circling as high and as long as she dared before touching down just before the spell fizzled out.
"Hi," she said, a little breathless. "What do you need?"
@forgraves
(FINALLY....)
Action. Thought. "Speech."
he nearly jumped a whole foot in the air when he actually heard kitty arriving, worried for a moment it was Azrael. he still wasn't sure how he was gonna tell him, if at all. he hadn't even told Banshy yet. though... well, Banshy likely already knew. he'd found their little parting gift. it was sweet. he could only trust Banshy hadn't decided to tell Azrael in spite of him leaving.
he realized too late he had been holding his breath, gasping for air as soon as he opened his mouth to speak again, coughing. "S-sorry-" he coughed, "it's- it's the stone, i had r-revived it, and n-now it's probably hatching, and i wanted to be able to-" another gasp for air "tell you incase you wanted to be there because you helped me with the stone and making that decision, so if you wanted to, you can, it's- oh its probably too late how long have i been out here-?!"
he was surprisingly... rambly. when he wasn't sleep deprived and half awake. and more anxious,s definitely, the sheer amount of uncertainty and panic was radiating off of him is waves of pure "idk what the fuck im doing" energy.
and just on time, as he finished talking, from only about 13 feet away-
crACK
his eyes immediately widened, looking around for the source of the earsplitting shatter. "oh no oh no oh no-" he muttered to himself in panic, running back off to his den before kitty would have a chance to answer.
