Appearance

At first glance, Agatha most resembles an immense alligator snapping turtle with quills and spines in place of shell. Her entire form is tailored for ambush hunting: she is seventeen feet (from snout to tail-tip) of slow, armored predator. She is designed to dig herself into soft substrate and wait, upper jaw jutting upward with the appearance of dead wood, loose foliage and the glowing flower jutting from her mouth to lure in prey; the stocky, powerful limbs and tail then propel her forward to snag prey in her beak. Her voice is that of a raucous old lady--raspy and loud, like an old smoker's.

Her body is thickly armored in scutes and scales, with heavy spines and horns jutting back from a very broad skull before running down her lateral lines, then protruding from the back of her forelimbs, the front of her hind limbs, and the top line of her thick, well-muscled tail. Quills--fur-like at first glance--are stiff but flexible to provide an additional layer of defense. These are liable (like the rest of her) to wind up coated in growing algae and moss thanks to a slow-paced, lazy lifestyle. Agatha is built with thick, short, long-clawed legs intended for waddling and digging, not for sprints. Her speeds and gaits are comparable to a crocodilian's.

Agatha's head is perhaps her most notable feature: a powerful, jagged-toothed jaw is tipped with a strong, sharp beak, capable of shearing bone with a crushing bite. Her orange eyes are high and deeply set, providing binocular vision. Her tongue is noticeably strange: its tip becomes a slender, almost prehensile green 'stem' tipped with a fleshy series of pale, always bioluminescent 'petals' that she can somewhat open and close, flower-like. Her gemstone is a orange-brown tantalite making up much of the left part of her upper skull, hidden from view.

Personality

Agatha, contrary to her monstrous appearance and predatory build, is good company. She's loud and honest, sentimental and empathetic, but brash and humorous, too. She'll sympathize with your troubles and then shout about the bastards who caused them--and maybe offer to bite their heads off, if it helps. She enjoys napping and lazing about, but also loves new experiences, which can result in a grumbling beast hauling her bulk through a tunnel and complaining loudly despite Agatha actually being excited about whatever she's going to do.

She also has a foul mouth and a filthy mind: if she finds the means and knowledge to make dirty jokes, she'll thrive on them. She enjoys shocking others' propriety, finding it hilarious, and she's not likely to find anything sacrosanct.

Humor aside, Agatha is loyal: if someone's her friend, she'll go to hell and back to help or protect them, perfectly willing to shove her bulk between a friend and danger--no matter what it is.
