Appearance

Basics: His base fur color is a light golden, almost cream, but it still has that tinge of darker color to classify it as golden. As a juvenile, his entire body will be the same color. As he grows older, his mane and tail-tuft will darken outwards. He will have a sort of halo of red-gold, but still with the inner color of light-golden-cream. His nose is a fleshy pink color. His eyes are a captivating hazel-brown, expressing more of his emotions than the rest of his body tends to.

His Stone: Xander's gem is rough spessartine, the color of molten gold. It protrudes from his right shoulder and covers it completely, in a sort of rounded shape. It looks like a pauldron, only bulkier and made of stone instead of leather or steel. Fitting for a Paladin. ((Thanks for Shafaer for the idea of having a pauldron-shaped Stone.))

Cycle One: Alexander is lanky and awkward, being a juvenile male lion. A small amount of his mane surrounds his head, and a tuft of it travels down his back and chest. His head and limbs are angular. He does not yet have the muscle build-up or the thick fur of an adult lion. His head looks a little too big for his shoulders, and his legs too thin. This is to be expected.

Cycles 2-3: Xander has begun to grow into himself a little more. His limbs are more muscular, paws a little bigger, and more of his mane is growing in, but it has not yet begun to darken outwards. He is still a little awkward, but he is getting there.

Cycle 4: Xander is now fully grown, and quite large. His mane has grown in completely, and has darkened to a red-gold as it spans outwards. His tail-tuft is also a red-gold. The darker colors of his outer-mane compared to the rest of his much lighter fur is a stark and pleasing contrast. The rest of his body has darkened a bit, grown a little more golden and a little less cream, but it is still much lighter than his mane and tail-tuft. He is muscular and rather boxy, but that does not detract from his features. He is a handsome man, just as any male lion is.

Personality

Cycle One: Alexander is a complicated mix of emotions, even right from the start. He is curious about the world around him, as any young creature would be. Right away he shows his love of figuring out how to solve problems. He doesn’t yet understand the subtleties of thinking through things, though, so he tends to hurt himself easily. He will see a rock, decide he wants to climb it, and instead of looking for footholds or attempting to find the slope that angles the most towards the ground, he will blindly begin scrabbling up the rock face and use sheer force of will to make sure he doesn’t fall off. And if he does, he tends to ignore any injuries he receives.

He has the potential to be very intelligent and well-educated, but so young, he believes he knows everything. He does not yet have a purpose in his life, so he makes his own purpose as he goes along, which often gets him into sticky situations. He wants to learn, but does not know patience. Everything to him is a game of, “How do I conquer this Thing?” He is a boy testing the limits of his surroundings.

And yet, he is kind. He has a good heart, and no one need teach him Right from Wrong. He helps those in need if he can, and if he can’t, he frets to the point of annoying whomever he is trying to help. He sees the world through rosy glasses. For now.

Cycle 10: Everything he ever thought he knew is no more. He is broken.
