Appearance

An incredible creature to behold, for sure, as if a glowing golden aurora had come to life, blanketed in a gentle swatch of the night sky. It isn't incredibly large, growing to about 5 feet in length, excluding its tail, and standing around 2 feet tall at the shoulder. While it usually stands on four legs, it's capable of standing up on its hind legs alone, which puts it just above 5.5 feet in height, as it can't fully stand up straight.

Without the wings and gaseous mane, this gembound could easily be mistaken for a slightly abnormal leopard. Its fur is dark crimson, nearly black, with black and red rosettes speckled across its hide. It stands on four strong legs and large paws with four toes on each, including thumbs on its front paws. A long feline's tail keeps it balanced both on four legs and two, allowing it to jump and balance quite precisely. The only thing, perhaps, out of place is its head. Not quite feline shaped, but rather similar to a wolverine in structure, with a rounded head, long, pointed muzzle, and strong jaw. It's eyes are bright and pupil-less, glowing bright starlight gold.

However, much of its body is shrouded in a thick mane of gas very similar to its life-giver's. Mostly composed of hydrogen, the gas is stained a jet black color with a swirling nebula of flame drifting and shifting as the gas moves. Speckled across the gas are a series of small lights that almost look like stars. It is actually able to communicate through these lights, like Regalia before it, but the language is incomprehensible to all other gembound. Still, it may involuntarily flash its lights when startled or experiencing strong emotions. Most of the gas wreaths around its neck, stomach, and back, fully encompasses the end of its tail, and curls around each of their ankles.

Yet somehow, bioluminescent gas may not be the most striking thing about this gembound. Rather, it great feathered wings, of a beautiful red and gold ombre, bright and almost glowing in the darkness of the caves. Under lights, it could almost be mistaken for fire or, should Arcturus be flying, a glowing aurora. They don't actually produce light, however - it's only the bright gleam that gives them this effect.

Arcturus's stone is a wood opal, set in a smooth oval on the center of their forehead. It's swirling lines of different browns are broken up by dashes of blue and turquoise, sparkled with bright green here and there.

Personality

Perhaps it's a good thing that the partially corrupted, arrogant, and delusional Regalia never got its metaphorical paws on the product of its magic, as Arcturus will emerge from its chrysalis with none of its parent's illusions of grandeur. It will be humble, kind, and relatively gentle, delighting in making others pleased as well as pleasing itself. It's entire motivation seems to be the happiness of itself and of those around it, whether that entails helping in a search for food, playing a game of hide and seek, or getting hopelessly drunk on berries that have been sitting out for a little too long. It doesn't seem to have any limits or boundaries - Arcturus is a free spirit at its finest.

Sometimes, however, this lack of boundaries can get it into trouble. It might have difficulties telling what is and isn't dangerous and has a bad habit of invading personal space when it's not wanted. It doesn't have any kind of problem being touched or poked or ridden on or thrown around, but it doesn't seem to get that others may not feel the same way. That isn't to say it's a bad judge of character, just that it's not always the most sensitive to physical boundaries. However, it's otherwise highly empathetic, able to track and follow others' emotions, oftentimes so much so that it'll 'soak up' these emotions, so to speak. It's mood will often swing with whoever it's talking to or interacting with, especially with extreme, negative, or distressing emotions. It isn't voluntary and could potentially lead to toxic behaviors and codependence on others.

When its not parroting emotions, however, it's almost like this gembounds default state of being is radiating joy and carefree energy. It doesn't worry very often and is extremely hard to push to anger. Even if it is somehow roweled up enough to get properly angry, it won't attack unless to defend itself or others. It won't be the one landing the first hit, but it's not afraid to defend itself or its friends if push comes to shove. It tends to keep away from creatures with violent tendencies anyways, its willingness to help drawing its line at hurting others. This purity of morals and emotions could easily be tarnished, however, by the chaos of the caves. In the end, happiness could all be shattered like glass.
