Appearance

The Queen Bee is a tall figure, almost 11 feet tall when standing, with six insectoid legs, a large, fuzzy body connected to a humanoid torso covered in carapace plates. It is the most mobile part of her body, and she is able to twist around to see behind her, bend down, bend backwards, and move her two arms freely. Her hands have three fingers and two thumbs, meant for grasping and holding, but can be used much more delicately to tie knots, insert keys into locks, or even braid hair.

Her body is colored mostly black, with three yellow stripes along her back, resembling a bumblebee without its head. Each leg is black, though the hind two have pollen baskets on them, the same yellow as her stripes. They have small grasping claws on the end of each one, allowing her to land on almost any surface, including rock, plants, trees, and even allow her to hang upside-down from things. Upon her face is a mask much like a doll’s face, a ceramic look to it, though it was made out of her own carapace. It is extremely dense and hard, and hooks onto her antennae to allow her to keep it on without holding it. It acts as a technique to disarm potential allies or prey into trusting her, before she either backstabs them or eats them.

The Queen Bee has no skeletal structure, and instead her thick carapace provides support and protection, and is as hard as stone, though flexible, allowing her to take some strain without cracking. She has one stinger that can inject a venom that causes severe pain and damage to flesh, causing swelling and possible necrosis if the area isn’t treated.

The Queen Bee moves through four stages of life. The primary larval stage, in which she comes out of her chrysalis as a small grub with a chubby, soft body, with stubby legs much like a caterpillar, and arms that aren’t much more than two marshmallows with grasping claws attached. Her mask is fully attached to her face, leaving her with poor eyesight, but her mandibles are exposed underneath, allowing her to eat. In this stage, she eats primarily vegetation, nectar, and fruit.

The secondary larval stage begins after she molts for the first time, and though she grows larger, only her humanoid half gains a different appearance. She has a fat, grub body with stumpy legs, her stinger not yet developed. Her torso looks very much like a human child, with longer arms, a longer torso, and the very beginnings of a carapace, only shown in the greyish markings upon her body. Her mask changes from a chubby baby’s face to that of a female child, with open eyes and smiling lips. Her eyesight is slightly better, and her arms are much more capable of grabbing and grasping. At this stage, she eats primarily vegetation, nectar, fruit, eggs, and whatever she can grab and eat.

The pupa stage is after her second molt, and at this point, she grows legs and a soft carapace, good at protecting against weak blows, but is soft and not hard yet. Her mask changes to that of a human teen, with an almost fully developed torso, with arms that are long with defined fingers and thumbs. She has a very small pair of wings at this stage, barely enough to get her off the ground, and it takes immense amounts of energy to fly. Antennae start to form and she is able to walk and transport herself much easier, able to climb trees, cave walls, even dangle from the ceiling. She becomes an adept hunter, her darker coloring allowing her to hide in foliage and among rocks much easier. Her stinger is fully functional and delivers a potent venom. At this stage she eats vegetation, nectar, fruit, eggs, and meat.

Her adult stage is when she is fully developed. She has a hardened carapace, wings capable of flight, six fully functional legs, a stinger, fully developed arms, torso, and head, with her mask falling off to expose her face, though she keeps it in order to maintain an illusion of trustworthy-ness. On her head is what looks to be hair, but is actually the same fuzz on her hind legs that catches pollen and stores it, giving it a yellow color. At this stage she eats an omnivorous diet of vegetation, nectar, fruit, eggs, meat, and even roots and bark. She’s very versatile in her diet.

Personality

Arwen is calm, collected, and very analytical. She’s incredibly intelligent and critical, often appearing as if she’s completely unfazed by a great many things, though that may also be due to the fact that the mask she wears only has one expression: calm amusement.

Arwen is very interested in maintaining a reputation for being kind and graceful, though underneath that facade is a ruthless manipulator intent on doing anything she can to protect those she cares about and establish herself as Queen. Despite her cruelty to those outside of the Court and her group of established allies and friends, she does care at least a bit for the world around her, and doesn’t kill or take things aimlessly. Unless it suits her needs and wants, she generally leaves things be.

But don’t get her wrong, if you get on her bad side, she will eat your face.

Often she prefers to ‘play’ with her food, often leading them into elaborate traps or even tormenting them over periods of time. If she has a need for something, she wastes no time, and only really does this when she’s upset, wants revenge, or is just simply bored.

Though on a more happy note, she really adores cuddles and hugs, and her fuzzy body happens to be perfect for sleeping on.
