They're like a nightmare brought to life.

Not a monstrous one- not the creature hunting you down, blood lust dripping from it's teeth. They are a specter, what watches from the shadows and the darkest places. They are what lurks in the unknown.

Their shape is a familiar one- a cat- but made unfamiliar. Their legs just a little too long, their ears just a little too big. Just tall enough for it to be a noticeable oddity. Their fur is long and fluffy, but does nothing to stifle the just ever so slight wrongness of their form.

But most notable- and potentially unsettling- is their coloration. Pitch black, making them look like a living shadow. In only the brightest light faint markings are visible- faint tabby spots all over their pelt. Their eyes stand out in stark contrast- yellowish green, and luminescent, even compared to an average cat.

Their gemstone is a strange one: a Hematite 'cage' or 'mask' around their jaw. It's anchored in their upper jaw, going just over the bridge of their nose and just over their under jaw. There's a small gap just above the bridge of their nose, and they can still open their mouth, but it does make breathing and eating somewhat more difficult. Additionally, it gives their voice an eerie quality- muffled and echo-y, almost ghost-like.

Personality

Assistant- as their title suggests- is happy to lend a helping hand! They'll readily help out anyone, unless the task happens to be especially dangerous or unpleasant- and even then it's easy to convince them to still help out. Really, they just like feeling useful. They also just always need something to do, otherwise, they'll look for something to do- probably sticking their nose where it doesn't belong in the process.

They practically embody the phrase 'curiosity killed the cat.’ They want to know about absolutely EVERYTHING. They aren't very methodical or organized in their search for knowledge, though. In fact, it typically results in either an endless stream of questions or doing things they probably really shouldn’t. All of their self-control comes from outside sources, so leaving them alone and unsupervised is likely to result in some sort of mess.

Assistant… doesn’t really seem to understand the concept of names. They’ll introduce themself as random words, such as ‘rock’ or ‘entropy’, their ‘name’ changing with practically every person they meet. They also have a hard time with other’s names, and unless reminded what someone’s name is multiple times, they’ll tend to use a nickname instead. These nicknames tend to revolve around prominent traits or skills, and have a tendency to change frequently.

They're rather close with The Researcher.
