Appearance

When he hatches, he'll be about 400+ pounds, nearing 5ft tall. Needless to say, big babies can lead to big adults. With a share of fuzz on his body, he does look rather cuddly. His trunk is long enough for him to trip over, feet making him feel clumsy, at first. He will grow quickly, topping out just inches over 13 feet tall, weighing in a whopping 8+ tons. With no tusks to start with, one may think he'll end up with smallish ones, but that's not the case at all. His tusks will grow to the ivory white, heavy and large and hard to break. Carrying other creatures will likely be a cake walk for him, on his back or in his brilliantly large tusks.

Atsila is, of course, grey skinned. However, what is once smooth and clean will become increasingly charred in appearance as he develops his power over fire. His skin may regularly be caked in both dirt and shades of coal, ash occasionally brushing off of his thick hide. He has a smell of firewood and smoke, which is not overbearing, but rather like a perfume.

His eyes are "nothing special," being a beautiful chocolate brown that shine with wisdom he will grow to have. His vision is good, which he takes advantage of, being a watchful creature. His gem is located on his right shoulder. It is not the shining cut that many gembounds may have. Instead, he will be seen with the rough version of a gem that looks like fire. It shaped over his shoulder in such a way that it does not hinder his ability to move.

Has a scar from battling Gadanai. The tusk lacerated his shoulder just below his gem.

Personality

Like many calves, his big feet and long truck just gets in the way at first, but golly gee does that trunk do a looot of interesting things. He likes to play, explore, and feel all the textures in the world. Textures are very much his thing. If he likes the texture and collect it, he will. If it's a texture of another gembound, he might politely ask them to let him pet them.

Atsila is very much a caring, overbearing, protective giant. He worries about everyone he holds dearly and literally could not give a fuck less about anyone he doesn't favor. Lesser gembounds are as much in his protection as beloved friends, always feeling a pinch in his heart when someone needlessly kills any kind of lesser. He tolerates killing for food, but barely.

There are times Atsila will feel particularly aggressive. It's usually when he's heavily in musth, that all must do their best to either avoid him or remain in his good graces. His first musth comes in his fourth cycle and returns every 2-4 cycles, depending on the state of things like stress levels, when he last reproduced, and emotional ties.

Atsila is not picky about the gender of his mates and is polyamorous/polygynous. He is extremely defensive of his mates, particularly the females, and can be a bit overly possessive, even after agreeing to allow the mate to seek others. It is an unfortunate piece of instinct he cannot seem to release, although it is not usually fueled by jealousy.
