Appearance
Way up in the sky, the little birds cryAppearance
50% gryphon, 50% valkhound, 100% adorable.This gembound is quite the oddity, to say the least. A mixture of feline, avian, insectoid and sharklike traits, Avi's body seems to take mainly after a persian leopard. Two scythe-like arms jut out in front, long and stiff but covered in soft velvet. Due to it's odd positioning, they tend to knuckle walk. Their hind legs are more "normal", with feline haunches and owl-like talons. A whip-like ridged tail comes from the back.
Delving into the more "alien" traits, it's important to mention the two pairs of wings sprouting from Avi's back. These are a strange mixture of leather and feather, broadly shaped but surprisingly okay at flight. Perhaps those hollow bones and long tail help with that. Their head seems vaguely cat-like, with a well defined, furry jaw. Two sets of glowing emerald eyes stare out, which work in conjunction with fluffy leopard ears. A beard droops down from a blunt (but serrated) black beak. Pits line the snout, somewhat capable of sensing electric currents. And from the top of their head, their stone carves into two jagged jet horns. This gem seems to defy classification; it could be described as black and reflective, almost oily, but not much else. Avi's entire body is blanketed in a coat of chocolate fur-feathers. Black rosettes cover their body, thighs and head, but dissolve into ragged stripes over the tail; the larger spots have bioluminescent, cyan centers. Similar glowing markings are found on their wings. As a side effect of their stone, Avi does not bleed, well, blood. Instead, a murky black liquid, similar to that of decomposing Gembound, courses through their veins. So far they seem to be unaware of this trait. Their voice is scratchy and a little loud, though its femininity/masculinity fluctuates. To note, Avi has no genitals. Personality

Avi is essentially a benevolent "mad scientist". Excitable and a little spontaneous, this gembound has an innate yearning to learn about the world and it's functions. Every day is full of experimentation and projects, most of which end up failing, but they don't seem to mind. They find bones, decomposition, and basically everything related to death quite interesting-- especially the fossils of Canis. Their mind's full of questions-- what causes gembounds to die? Is there any way to stall the decomposition process? What can you learn from bones? Spells like Marrowsight would be of high importance to them, but they wouldn't just use magic; context clues, from broken bones to gem placement to location, would be something they value highly as well. This is their main occupation, and may sometimes feel annoyed if they're interrupted during the middle of study. Of course, they aren't cruel by any means, and wouldn't kill a lesser (or greater) just to sate their curiosity. Because of this odd... hobby, Avi views death with a strange curiosity. It isn't sad to them, no no, but a moment of great scientific interest! They'd likely hold this view for their entire life, lest a close one were to die. They're bad at social cues, and sometimes can be blunt or harsh without meaning to, but it all comes from a good heart. They love their family greatly and wouldn't trade them for the world. And while they may not be strong or fierce, if one of them were in danger, they'd gladly defend them. History
Avi was born to Eythan of the Bonebound, and thus born into the Vita royal family. Their early life has been rather easy and carefree so far, simply getting along with their family in a childhood peace.
