Appearance

As if it had soaked up the light's rays its self, Aztec's coat is a beautiful, golden tawny that fades to white over his ventral areas. On top, a mesmerizing, black, rosette pattern blankets his entire body. Unlike a leopard's spots, the jaguar's rosettes are larger and darker, with one to two dots inside. They merge together in a couple of bands around his neck and tail tip The spots also become solid as they adorn his face and form a broken, blotchy stripe down his back.

With a hefty barrow and a rounded belly, Aztec's body is quite stocky. His legs are short and muscular, and compared to the other big cats, his tail is rather short. Blocky facial features give Aztec a strapping look complete with his short, rounded ears. A strong, handsome jaw with long fangs gives him a powerful bite and his brutal claws, when unsheathed, demand the same respect. His rounded, royal yellow eyes stare, focused on the world, as if waiting for a chance to leap.

Aztec, as cub, with stumble out of his chrysalis on even shorter, thick legs and massive paws. Although his coat will not change much, he will have to grow into ears, which will be slightly bigger than his muzzle. Adolescent Aztec is more proportionate, looking closer to his impressive, adult self. However, he still has muscles to build and paws to grow into, giving him a somewhat lanky look.

His gem is a chunk of obsidian, roughly the size of a jaguar's heart, and takes on the most important job in his body, keeping him alive. Tucked safely away within his ribcage and anchored in place by strong arteries, his gem replaces his heart, literally becoming it. Unlike most Gembounds who would wither away if severed from their gems, Aztec would instantly die without his.

Personality

Although quiet, Aztec is not shy. He is simply observing. As a cub he is very curious, bombarding others with lots of questions. The desire to quench his thirst for knowledge seems innocent enough, especially as a cub, but it has an underlining motive. With knowledge come power, and it is power that Aztec craves most.

Calculating, but not quite cold, Aztec seems mild mannered, and sometimes, oddly charming. Beneath the surface, however, the wheels in his head are always turning, concocting ways to claw his way up the latter. Mistakes are bound to happen, but fortunately for Aztec, he is a fast learner. Clever and covert, he rarely makes his true motives known until it is too late.

If power is what he seeks then it is ambition that drives him. What Aztec decides to do with this power and ambition will define him. His is kind of Gembound who keeps his friends close, but his enemies closer, and as life proves to be cruel and unfair, he may be tempted to step the heads of both to reach his goals. Despite his extreme methods, Aztec is not without empathy, however, but in his quest to build a legacy, that may be forgotten.

Aztec has a deep admiration for magick, especially his own element, light. He considers it to be one of the most important elements, and by extension, one of the most sought out. For now, he keeps up a humble option on the matter, but secretly, Aztec is very proud of it, and a little bias. He is inspired by other impressive mages, and continuously works on mastering his magick so that one he can surpass them.
