Won't Back Down

His voice is low, rumbling, and deep. It sounds almost like a growl but can be surprisingly gentle and comforting when he wants it to. Baratheon is not your typical dragon. Instead of being covered with scales he has a thick layer of snow-white fur. Fur that is as soft and downy as a rabbit but is designed to keep him safe from attacks. It’s thick and hard to cut through as well as being flame retardant and water resistant. The longer light-blue fur that is along his back and comes to a forelock and tail tuft is designed specifically to keep his back safe from fangs. Underneath his thick white fur is thick skin that is for protecting him as well, he might be a furred dragon but that doesn’t mean he’s no less tough than his scaled cousins. On his chest, part of his throat, and belly are pink scales. These are the only scales that are on his body. In his mouth are long, sharp fangs that don’t allow him to chew food easily (he actually swallows his food whole) but do allow for powerful ripping tools in fights. His two front eye teeth are visible poking below his lips when his mouth is closed. Underneath both of his eyes are six marks, they are pink in color and make three semicircles beneath each of his eyes.

On his back are large wings that during his first cycle are too small to carry him more than a couple of feet or allow him more than to glide. When he grows in his second cycle his wingspan will grow to roughly double his length for easy flight. He has a pink nose horn, not unlike a rhino’s, on the top of his muzzle and two pink horns on his head right in front of his overly large ears. The claws on his feet, which aren’t very long, are sharp and with the strange way his feet are made they allow him to hold items and use tools with his forepaws.

Baratheon will have a long and lean body with shorter legs than your normal dragon. However, with his lean body he will have a long neck and long tail when he grows to his full size. With his long tail he will be able to walk and balance on his back legs with ease to make himself seem more intimidating as well as to do certain attacks easier. Usually though he prefers to walk on four legs like he did in his youth.

Baratheon’s eyes are normally a deep pink with no discernible pupil. Because of this he has a slight pink tint to everything that he sees. However, this pink changes to red and his vision is covered with a red haze that colors everything the same color when he’s scented the blood of prey (any animal smaller than he) or whenever he gets into a fight. This is a disease called the Bloodlust and once his eyes have turned crimson it’s a gamble whether or not he’ll be able to control himself. He’s pretty much turned into a feral beast out for blood and death. If he can’t control himself then he will fight until either he or his opponent is dead or until he is unable to fight anymore. In the case of prey he will attack and eat until either he can't eat anymore or he has eaten enough prey that he can control himself again. Although he has one caveat that can be found and exploited.

His caveat is his gemstone which is rhodochrosite. He has a small circular piece of it, that’s colored pink with swirls of white, on the inside of his rear right leg on the uppermost part of his thigh. The rhodochrosite isn’t evil visible to most gembounds and most certainly wouldn’t ever think to approach and rub it to calm him down.

As a hatchling he will only be the size of your average German Shepherd puppy.

Personality

As a youth he will certainly be a happy-go-lucky one with a love for wrestling and playing with others. He sees only the good in others and wants nothing more than to make friends. However, he will find that with a curse such as his that life isn’t so clear cut as making friends and playing all the time. Even with a young age he will be cursed with his bloodlust and will struggle with not hurting his friends when he starts play-fighting them. While he is still young it will be easy to shrug off because he can cause no real damage to those bigger than he is… However, when he grows it will be much harder to control himself and not hurt those he befriends.

Due to the fact that he is certainly kind at heart and the fact that he does nothing but seems to hurt those he loves he will develop into a loner. One that isolates himself for the good of others. He might come off as a little bit snappy to those that disturb him because even when he’s young it’s obvious that he has a smart mouth. He is good at coming up with comebacks and comments that just seem to get under your skin. Part of the reason he does this is for fun and his friend will soon learn that he only does these for fun and he means nothing by them. The only time he says words to intentionally hurt is when he wants to be alone and says things to get others to leave before he loses control of his fangs. He may also intentionally hurt another’s feelings if he generally doesn’t like them.

Baratheon doesn’t like to be angry but because of his Bloodlust it’s hard to keep from becoming that way. A heated argument might end up with his pink eyes reddening and him barely able to keep from blasting someone with an energy beam or running forward to rip them apart. Even though he doesn’t like to be angry he doesn’t like to be considered weak either. If you try to insult him or say that he’s a weakling then he has no trouble with showing you that he isn’t. Though he’d much rather talk you down then lose himself to the Bloodlust to prove a point.

As mentioned Baratheon has a kind heart. He will sometimes do things to benefit others simply because he can and he has no trouble with intervening in a situation to save someone’s life if he can. Still on that same token he has no trouble (as he gets older) with eating gembounds to sate his hunger. It is the circle of life and if he wants to live then he has to eat. The hungrier he is then the more likely he is to try to isolate himself but if you won’t let him be or respect his territory boundaries then you’re likely to feel his hungry fangs.

This dragon is a loyal fellow. Once he befriends someone or considers them a part of his family you better believe that he'll break his back to do whatever he needs for them. Still, that only brings more guilt if he loses control of himself but a strong family member nearby could help him try to control himself.

Baratheon would throw himself off a cliff or walk into the pits of Hell if it meant he could save someone that he loves. Perhaps you could call it extreme loyalty, perhaps you could call it bravery... some would call it rashness. Perhaps he has a lot of all three.

Through RP:

After being brought back out of his chrysalis the dragon has calmed down a lot. His bloodlust is not so severe, or rather, is not so reckless as it once was. He isn't set off at the drop of a hat and can control his anger a lot better. He still is not against testing his strength against others and if necessary will fight with all of his might... but he has learned to think before acting. Many cycles in the cave, many failures, many disasters, have all taught him patience and it shows with his newfound calmness.

Baratheon doesn't speak as much as he used to but says what he needs to when he needs to, measuring his words before saying anything.

Baratheon is the size of an adult bull elephant.

He has emerged from his chrysalis a second time in his 12th Cycle. His memories have been somewhat retained but he's been "reborn" with his scars healing and all prior connections having been mostly shattered.

Doesn't breath fire but uses an energy blast from his mouth instead.
