Appearance

As of acquiring god powers, Bedlam's left eye is missing. The bone of the socket has twisted and warped, and the empty space is mostly covered by flesh.

As of abusing its god powers a second time, Bedlam has acquired a new, functional eye on its neck. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be. Actually, it mutated several more to match the Skycaller configuration: a pair on either side, and one on its throat. Its second mutation: glowing green Drinker tendrils along its back.

About eight feet long (with a tail of another six), three feet tall and weighing approx. 400lbs, this creature is broad-skulled, large-eyed and quite chubby. An expressive face tends to wrinkle deeply when the creature communicates, and a thick layer of fat and sturdy legs allow it to traverse even colder climates without too much discomfort, despite its lack of fur or feathers. The short, strong legs are large-boned, the catlike toes slightly webbed, allowing it to waddle on land or swim fairly well; the long, thick tail bears a single fin-like vertical structure above and below that can act as both propulsion and a rudder. The large, catlike eyes are highly adapted to vision in low light, so that this creature can see in all but pitch darkness. It is by nature carnivorous, with a large mouth and small, sharp teeth, but can subsist on simpler vegetable foods for a time--grasses, however, prove impossible to naturally digest. Its hearing and smell are both decent. The skin atop the blubber is fairly thin, usually stretched taut but easily wrinkled with movement, and is pigmented a light green. The mouth, tongue and cat's toe pads, however, are a mauve pink. The bayldonite gemstone forms a small cluster on the lower right hind leg. This creature is very, very slightly radioactive, which will only ever really manifest if its body is eaten or any secretions are absorbed--which may sicken the one consuming it.

Personality

As a child--and perhaps even into adulthood--this creature is motivated mainly by the desire to entertain itself. It is fortunate, then, that a wide variety of things amuse it. Bedlam adores creatures much smaller than itself, in particular bugs, but has a flaming hatred for rodent-like creatures. They still entertain it, but it only wants them dead. It is petty and spiteful toward those who annoy it, especially those who try to order it around, but it remembers those who go out of their way to be kind to it and shows them a special fondness.

Bedlam is fascinated by other sapient creatures. The workings of their brains are a mystery to it, but it is determined to find out all it can. Whether this investigation helps or hurts them doesn't really matter to it, as long as it's having fun in the process. After all, why shouldn't it do what it pleases? It loves melodrama, and thinks intense emotions are hilariously entertaining.

Those whom the catwhale considers 'friend' are spared many of its antics, though they may still be subject to teasing at times. It is fiercely loyal, seemingly without regard to morality. If its friends are nice to it and its other friends, then they're okay by it. Its catlike mannerisms make themselves clear around friends: purring, headbutts, and rubbing against them are all fair game.

Despite its habit of keeping a (what others might call stupid) smile on its face nearly all the time, Bedlam is in fact quite capable of reading the emotions in a room and calculating the consequences of its actions. It believes in high risk, high reward; but it is more than happy to let others take the risk for them if possible. When it does throw itself into a dangerous situation, it prefers to have a backup plan, and becomes very anxious without one.
