Appearance

Size: 8 feet long + 7 feet of tail (the last foot of which are long feathers); 600 lbs.

A massive creature resembling a dinosaur, Bulrush is an intimidating sight- something they don't particularly mind. She is mostly covered in feathers, except for her talons, fins, and face. All but the latter are covered in rough pebbly skin- her face is covered in a large bony plate, which fades to the same sort of skin around her eyes. The head's general shape is not unlike a bull terrier, with four glowing teal eyes and high-set nostrils. Horns curl out-then-up from the sides of her skull, and just behind and between them is a delicate lace crest, which can be raised and lowered like her fins.

The body, as mentioned before, is dinosaur-like in appearance. She had a set of arms, although the talons are hardly dexterous and more suited to digging. Feathers jut from the side of these arms, hardly wings and useful for little more than intimidation. Her legs are long and muscular, with large flat feet good for running and stomping. Both sets of limbs have three digits each. The tail is long and raptor-like, with the 'meat' of it ending with a short, bony fin. The rest of it is long, trailing feathers. The longer feathers can be opened and adjusted slightly, like a bird's tail feathers.

Her gemstone is a beautiful rutilated quartz, covering her left foot like a gauntlet. It extends past where the claws naturally are, 'lengthening' them, but renders the whole foot mostly immobile and a little clumsy. This is a particular hinderance when she's freshly hatched, and the gemstone is that much heavier and bigger compared to her own body

She is predominantly a ruddy orange, darkening to brown on a select few places like her fins and 'wing' barring. The exception to this rule is a stormy blue swatch across her chest and neck, reaching up higher on her back and the crown of her head than the underside. It covers her lace crest, making that blue as well, but not the fin on her back.

Newly hatched, she had a body length of two feet. Her tail is about half a foot long, and lacks the longer feathers of her adult form. The feathers are thin and ugly-looking, and mostly confined to the body, leaving the rest covered in soft but bumpy skin. As she ages, her skin will toughen and the feathers will fill out. Puberty does WONDERS for her.

Personality

Bulrush is not the sneaky, thieving type, and she is WELL aware of this. She is the largest and least agile of the collector's 'brood,' after all. This doesn't bother her: the others can go about stealing trinkets. She would rather go after what had been long forgotten. Orion is a favored hunting ground, but anywhere with objects of value lost to time would be of Bulrush's interest.

Every object has a story, and Bulrush is fascinated by this. They will seek out these stories through inquiring the previous owner or probing with their magic, ever nosy and curious. Bulrush is particularly perceptive, and often lingers long enough to catch details other may miss.

Sometimes objects have to be... 'forcibly repossessed,' and Bulrush is often called upon for that purpose. They are no stranger to violence, and not exactly opposed to it, though she also doesn't really ENJOY fighting. Bulrush tends to fight extremely defensively, waiting for opponents to come to them and then beat them into the dirt.

She can't craft, not like the others, but she will, in time, get the desire to. What she will build will be monumental structures of mud and stone and wood and bone- whatever she can get her talons on. Cairns and obelisks and neat little dens. Bulrush can be a surprisingly sentimental sort, and the structures she builds often stand for something, even if Bulrush is the only one who will be aware. If not, then Bulrush waits with quiet curiosity to see what stories will form around it.
