Appearance

She should have been dead right out of the chrysalis.

Curie, a small bird barely breaching the height of a foot, has blue swathed over her back and face, her body cradled in the dull color of her species. Her wings are developed into flippers, and her body is maintained more for the colder, wetter regions of the caves. Her diet mostly consists of the fish she catches in the many rivers tangled around the environment. Webbed feet are often tucked into her body, and she waddles and slides on her body on land while flying through the water thanks to her oiled, near-waterproof feathers.

However, as rare as penguins are in these lands, even rarer is the sheer radioactive compound she holds close to her heart. A dull, coal-looking Coffinite may send her to an early grave- with a GRapi rating of over five million, she carries not only a danger to herself, but to friends, family, and anyone who stays alongside her for prolonged periods of time.

This does not seem to bother her. No- she still preens over it as if nothing is there, exists and lives as if nothing is wrong. As a hatchling, illness has yet to set in. However, as she grows, she will develop into worse states, going through the motions of uranium poisoning and, eventually, death. The clock will strike true for her at X cycles, when she will finally succumb to the various diseases her gem inflicts upon her- particularly, nearing the end of her life, an irreversible cancer that will kill her failing body.

Personality

Despite the grim warnings the existence of her Coffinite brings, Curie is anything but down about her predicament. She has no inkling of what is to come when she hatches- no idea of the danger she poses to herself and others. Instead, she's sweet and cuddly and wishes to make friends with everyone and anything, from the tallest elephant to the smallest pebble.

Curiosity of the world flows through her veins. While she may see much of it through the rivers she swims through, she enjoys making fun with what she's given, even digging into the ground to find new things and discover anything she can get her beak on. Rocks are a particular fascination of her's, especially ones with imprints and memories to them. However, it doesn't need to mean anything to be special to her. If it's a new shine she's never seen, she'd like to see everything she can about it, see if she can find more, and see if she can immerse herself in them.

She has a penchant for making an impact on the world, and looks to make an impact on others, as well. Impressive items are used to buy over people- things she finds impressive, at least. Every stranger is a friend in her book.

Above everything else, though, she is a survivor. She's tenacious, looking to hold onto her friends, never striving to fail them. If given the opportunity to give up from strain or pain, she refuses it, going until her body can no longer carry her. Throughout the way she maintains the idea of never complaining and never giving others needless grief when she'll be able to pass over her obstacles eventually.
