Appearance
Gangly and awkward as a child, Delphine is a mess of dust and wiry limbs. With more time spent courting the cavern's walls and floors than on her own four legs, it is no wonder that what should be an onyx pelt is but a scruffy mess of dirt for charcoal dye. It is only with the passing of the cycles is her countenance met with a gradual change, punctuated by the subtlety of practiced balance and lean muscles. But of her current status quo, she is every bit as clumsy and awkward as her lanky form assumes. Every step is a gamble that hoists her from point A to point B with leggy impracticality and youthful exuberance.
Her gemstone, as anticlimactic as the child herself, are dull shards of jadeite peeking from just behind her ears, barely noticeable if not for the emerald glint from beneath the tufts of black. In the whole picture that makes for the gembound foal, there is nothing particularly special about Delphine yet with the coming of age hails a change that will bring her to unimaginable heights, literally. In pinnacle form, Delphine will stand at a full 17 hands (173 cm) with equal musculature and elegance to play paradox to her youthful counterpart. Where once her pelt was but a lackluster coat of bruising stumbles and mottled grays, it eventually develops an illustrious sheen that draws majesty to her every movement. And verdant are her eyes, an immaculate accompaniment to the horned stalagmites of jade from the crown of her head just behind her ears. An encounter with the dragon, Baratheon, in Eridanus has left her with a scar that runs between her shoulders along the length of her spine; neither deep enough to debilitate nor shallow enough to heal entirely. In the midst of practice, a cast backfires and proceeds to lacerate her forelegs, just below the knees. The scars are slight and seemingly random. Personality

A child both exuberant and curious, she is of a heart too brimmed with goodness and love to know that her vice is naivety. With a steadfast will to see the light in all that is around her, Delphine approaches a new environment and foreign creatures with equal part hesitation and boundless gusto. She who trusts too easily will come to discover that she wants only for the happiness of those around her and yet it is this very kindness that would play to her vulnerabilities. Even more so the honesty that belies her tongue and reaps from her the sense to censor what is said and should remain unspoken. But such is the youth that wrings from the foal a vibrant light so contrasting the midnight coat of her physical semblance.
She latches easily to those who reciprocate affection, thinking even an iota of acknowledgment to be more than what it may truly be. In that way, Delphine is a child easily taken in smaller, inconsistent doses yet despite what may well be bouts of elation and an unhealthy yearning for exploration, she is a character true to her very soul. Bound to a moral compass from the very moment she was birthed from her gemstone, she is built of a foundation that is at once predictable and loyal. Wrought with maternal instincts and a bone-deep need to protect to those who are in need, she is a guardian (albeit a foolish one). Cycle 2
Still naive, and perhaps at times foolish, Delphine develops a fairly healthy dose of optimism in the bulk of experience which she accumulates through her first cycle. In nearly all her encounters, she prefers to give the benefit of the doubt and should her initial belief in a person's innate good be disproven, the young mare often tries to find reasons to forgive or redeem acts of cruelty, be it born of intentional or unintentional motives. Much of it stems from her firm belief that kindness and honesty can perpetuate love and peace or even salvage a lost soul and it is with this idea that she continues to build upon a foundation rooted in good and justice.
One of her more paramount developments is the firm grounding of what was already a huge part of her and that is her desire to protect her friends, home and even the weak and unsuspecting. In this desire to play a self-proclaimed defender of the people is her still easy susceptibility toward affection and clinginess. Little has changed in this regard and her oblivious nature continues to play its double-edged existence into Delphine's character, feeding her convictions that lean toward simplicity and gullibility but also manifesting her vices. Among her many downfalls is a heart that envies without bounds, particularly when it comes to coveting her friends and those who she wishes remain by her behest. It comes as no surprise then that given her nature to attach herself emotionally to others, she is also easily discouraged in the face of fear and rejection. When she is unable to understand why certain things or persons transpires in a way that is unpredictable to her, Delphine flails and closes herself off to a self-perpetuated misery. Such are the inescapable qualms of a creature so inclined to sentimental judgments, a flaw she is slowly learning to balance against a world that does not cater to her utopian aspirations. History
