Appearance

An odd little creature, Destiny may appear to be a hybrid to those unfamiliar with her species. When she first hatches from her chrysalis she'll only be around 10 cm in length, covered in thin, velvety fur and wrinkles as though her skin is far too big for her. She'll always have enormous webbed feet and stubby limbs that seem far too short to carry her. As an adult she'll be bigger (around 38 cm, a third of which is her fatty tail) and far less wrinkled, but still quite small and very chubby.

Her face is taken up by a large bill similar to that of a duck or other such water birds. This bill may often cause her to lisp on her words or stammer as a child, but as she grows older she may become more used to it. Her eyes appear black in darkness, but when light hits them, it reveals all the colours of the rainbow without a shred of darkness.

Destiny's stone consists of a small portion of the back of her skull. When she's a baby, it'll appear as a small gleam of colour where the back of her head meets her neck. As she grows older, it'll become far more extravagant; it'll break through the skin into a crest of many glittering spires similar to horns. These spires will grow slowly, but never stop, and this is where the problems start.

The gem will slowly but surely grow over her skull, forwards towards her bill. Eventually the spires will push her eyes from their sockets, taking her sight around her fourth cycle. The gem will spread downwards, too, forming over her spine, making movement more difficult for her.

And finally, on the inside the crystals will begin to slowly pierce her brain. First pushing through her skull. She'll feel the pain grow every day, and she'll come to know.

From the moment of her emergence, this Gembound was doomed to die; by her eighth cycle, Destiny's Pawn have left her stone behind for the next to be caught in a broken and vicious cycle.

Personality

Destiny's Pawn is of the optimistic sort. Self-depreciating, good humoured and shamelessly romantic, she falls in love and becomes obsessed with simple things as easily and subconsciously as breathing. However, that's not to say she easily cries; as broken as she will ever be, she can always tough it out and feel better for it. She can be painfully loud, talkative, but the main part is that she's always out for a good time.

As mentioned before, she's a romantic. She adores the smallest compliments, gifts (even if it's just a simple pebble from the ground) and is quite the fan of matchmaking. She can turn this into quite the inappropriate game, placing bets on which of her friends will get hitched next. Destiny also enjoys giving compliments(always craving that sort of attention herself) and seems to never get sick of cuddles, even it's from a rough-skinned lizard. Though she's too stubborn to say it out loud she craves for someone to be there for her, to truly love her despite her ever-enclosing fate.

Other than that, Destiny has problems with internalizing everything. Even if she's at her worst, she'll smile as best she can and battle it out. It'll be very difficult to make her admit there's something wrong. Success in this case can be the only thing that can drive her to violence; admitting things out loud, to her, can make her finally believe them. In this case she can be very difficult to calm, whether it's a violent outburst or simply a breakdown into tears.

Oftentimes she's simply afraid of what she thinks she's capable of.

Otherwise, she's very much a pacifist, and will try to end fights with games and laughter. Some of the things she does seem to make sense only to her, and she often has trouble even explaining it to herself. Outside of compliments and romance, she has communication difficulties and she has trouble holding a serious or gloomy conversation. But rest assured that she'll try her utmost hardest.

Sadness and complaining can get to her in ways that might not be so obvious when looking at the surface. Whilst someone might sigh and whine that they got mud on their hoof, Destiny will wholeheartedly agree that it's the worst thing on the outside, but inside she's feeling time ticking away for her.
